All the Books by Will Wight - Free

    When does is start?

    All aren't free currently

  • damn, should have waited to purchase Cradle 10 and 11…bought those earlier this year (got the other ones for free a couple of years ago)…and can't get 12 yet.

    • 12 is out in a fortnight. Last book in series

      • yes, I know, I mean it obv is not one of the freebies because it is only pre-order atm

  • Thanks , just about finished travellers book 3 and waiting for cradle #12 so will give elder empire a read

Will Wight is an amazing author. For those interested it's wuxia fantasy based.
I've read all of his series and love his writing style, wit, and humor. Exceptionally good self-published material.
Have Cradle 12 on pre-order. It's out in a few days. Can't wait.

One comment re The Elder Empire. Shadow and Sea are parallel series from the viewpoint of the protagonist (Shadow) and antagonist (Sea). Interesting idea. Reading both not appeal to all, so choose the more evocative one to you based on the blurb :D. (I started with Shadow).

      Thanks for the tip!

Will Wight's Cradle series is the best thing I've discovered through OzBargain thus far. Awesome author!

    • +3

A Wight author writing about Wuxia fantasy. Don't see a lot of that around.

Another one that can’t wait for cradle 12

    • Never heard of this. Could you explain a bit more how to do it?

      • +2

Just go to the book then click on the link for the audiobook at the top of the page (e.g. https://www.amazon.com.au/gp/product/B0BVMYZPV5 for The Last Horizon). On the right you should see "Great news! You already own the Kindle edition. You can add audio for just $3.99."

        • Ohhhhh I see, I thought we had to join the free trial to get it but it’s just under that.

    • Thanks, ill add it to OP.

What age groups are these books OK for?

    • +1

Would also like to know, wondering whether to get it for my 12 year old girl who's into YA fantasy..

      • +1

Has your daughter read Trudi Canavan - often overlooked but perfect for a 12 year old girl.

Outside of the usual (Leigh Bardugo, Sarah Maas, Cressida Cowell etc), maybe also look at Melissa de la Cruz, Charlie Holmberg, Lianne Tanner and Sabaa Tahir. Anne McCaffrey is also worth a look, she is a bit outdated but enjoyable (particularly the HarperHall trilogy, which can be read as a standalone). Similarly David Eddings (old fashioned but the kids enjoy it). Brandon Sanderson also has several YA books (eg Mistborn - might be a slight stretch for a 12 year old but not much; Skyward).

source: have gone through this with my kids!

        • Thanks for your tips, I'll check them out! She's reading a ton of Rick Riordan stuff currently, so wanna get her to expand her repertoire and read books from other authors…

          • +1

            @Quiexo: Safe for kids

Also get some Raymond E Feist for your daughter. Magician/Silverton/Sethanon then the empire series: servant/daughter/mistress of the empire.

    • +3

14 and above I would say. They are fine for adults, they arent the most complex books around but are not overly YA either.

    • +1

Let's just say they're basic for adults.

    • Cradle, Elder Empire, Last Horizon is perfectly fine for a YA.
Travellers Gate series is fine, albeit lots of deaths by sword :).

      • +1

Got em, if they aren't oldenough today it's only a matter of time. Deaths are par for the course, it's more about any carnal details

  • Thanks! Now my Kindle is spammed full ok books to read!

    Will Wight write again?

    • +3

How many books will our Will Wight write if our Will Wight will write right?

  • +3

I found the Cradle books started ok (book 1), then the next few were a bit tedious (2-4, although in hindsight you can see they arent that bad once you know more), then they picked up a lot (5-9), then everyone had super powers and it became a bit ridiculous (10+).

  • +2

Really appreciate the post. I’ve just discovered LitRPG and I was going to buy the first couple of Cradle books for my Kindle after I finished Dungeon Crawler Carl.

  • Thanks OP.

Sounds like a waste of time reading this fantasy stuff

    • +7

Better than facing stupid reality again; as Homer once said.

  • +2

I also got the free German language editions in the deal link in case I ever learn German.

  • Thanks OP. I haven't read Last Horizon yet. Can't wait for Cradle book 12.

    • +1

It's an odd one. Do read it. Took a while to get into a flow.
A pretty overpowered universe from the start.

  • Thanks Op :)

  • +1

I had been sucked into the Cradle series with the first book just reading when I could but now I have 10 more to read! Thanks OP!

  • I feel very dumb, I thought this wasn't active when I first saw it so I set a reminder for today when it "started". Also known as I set an alarm for when it ended and now I am sad lol
