How much is typical lenses cost?

  • If its expensive try Zenni

    • Can't speak for others, but Zenni… 0/10 for customer service. You're dealing with an army of workers in India (nothing wrong with that) who can't follow up on each other / have no idea what is going on / must be reminded why you're talking with them / must follow up… to realise they don't know what is going, so you have to repeat yourself 100 times etc. It took me about 20+ emails in about 2 months to get my refund because they had run out of stock.

I went local with Specsavers in the end. From memory it was about $60 all up (cheapest frames and no special lens treatment. They are very shiny)

I would highly advice anyone thinking on ordering from them to look as their last review on product review website.
What I understood a bit to late, is that this was a good seller a while ago, but became quite dodgy since a year or two.
Myself, has to go through ordering via the chat, wait for weeks to get the right price adjusted on my bank account and then got a final refund.
The worst, is that even their glasses I ordered were not even fitting right, smaller than advertised, and the magnet for the sun lens did not even align correctly with the frames of the glasses.

Well, that's my own opinion, don't take just my world for it, and go read other reviews.

PS: if you look for website I've found what I looked for, have a look on eyebuydirect, there are others good I believe.

Eyebuydirect is owned by the same company (Essilor).

    • they've always got my prescription spot-on (where specsavers couldn't), although their lens quality isn't too great. a couple of years ago, i accidentally damaged some lenses which made contact with some very hot, almost boiling water. i was trying to bend the arms in to fit better, the frame slipped and both lenses got dunked. entirely my fault but i sent them an email anyway. got the expected response yet to my surprise, they took pity on me and added $40 credit to my account so i could buy the exact pair again.

depending on whoever's fitting your lenses, you may get some scratches/scuffs on your shiny new frames. can't recommend their own branded frames either — i've bought heaps of ray bans and had no issues with the frame. my last purchase was an oakley frame with 1.67x polarised sun lenses for $275. they can't be beat for value, imo.

  • Not a lot of metal frames and I doubt the rrp is 130+ but I bought 2 anyway for $27 all up. $13.50 per pair including shipping is the cheapest other than the two plastics I got for free because clearly stuffed up. Maybe the lens can be harvested for nreal airs?🤔

  • I have not tried this mob but a similar proposition is visiondirect.com.au and they delivered two perfectly serviceable pairs of (different) prescription glasses to me for an absurdly low price, took a couple of weeks for delivery I think. They also have a sale on right now.

  • Been buying my prescription glassess and sunnies from Clearly for 15+ years now, and other than a rough year or 2 about 10+ years ago where the quality dipped, they have been great. Highly recommend.

  • My two prescription pairs just arrived for about $25 and they're great. Thanks OP.
