Help with Apple TV 4K and Samsung Sound Bar Setting for a TCL C835 4K Full Array Mini LED QLED Google TV (2022)

Hi all
We have just upgraded our tv from Samsung curved Tv 55 “ to the new TCL C835 4K Full Array Mini LED QLED Google TV (2022).

The previous set up we had was had the Apple TV 4K plugged into the Samsung tv via HDMI cable and also had the Samsung Sound bar(HW-J6501R/XY) plugged it into the TV via HDMI . I think both the HDMI cable/TV were supporting upto 60MHZ.

Now I am looking to do a similar set up with this new TV TCL C835 4K Full Array Mini LED QLED Google TV (2022) however the new TV has 144MHZ compatibility and had 4 different HDMI Ports
PORT 1 -Supports 144MHZ
PORT 2 -Supports 120 MHZ
PORT 3 Supprts 60 MHZ
PORT 4 Supports 60 MHZ

so my question is what HDMI PORT should I plug the apple TV 4K in as there are 4 different ports in the new TV as compared to our previous tv that only had 2 HDMI ports ?

Also i tried connecting the Samsung sound bar (HW-J6501R/XY)and woofer via Arc HDMI/Bluetooth but it’s not detected/connected . I have plugged the Samsung sound bar in all 4 HDMI PORT behind the TCL TV but it doesn’t seems to be working .

Could anyone with some technical knowledge be able to point how can I connect the Samsung sound (HW-J6501R/XY)bar to the TCLC385 TV.

Any help with this will be greatly appreciated.

  • support mhz usually means backward, so doesnt matter… maybe put less impotant devices i nthe low 60, high 144 usually for gamers ie PS XBOX etc

  • for soundbar if hdmi doesnt work try optical cable

    • Okay did get one with the Soundbar or the TVany leads on where to buy one ?

      • did or did not….
just google man… but first make sure both soundbar and tv has that hole to plug optical cable.
but actually, i dont know why hdmi doesnt work - it should…

The Apple TV won't output 144Hz anyway, so whichever one you plug into will be fine

    120+ is for gaming

Which ports are labelled with eArc?

According to my quick Google port 4 is the eARC port. Plug the sound bar in there and the Apple TV into any of the others. Maybe need to fiddle with tv settings to activate eARC

Pretty much what pantsparty has said.

Plug the soundbar into the eARC port.

Your Apple TV can go into any other port. I would recommend Port 3 just in case you get any of the latest gen consoles which will benefit from the 120Hz+ inputs unlike the Apple TV would.

On the TV, you may have to go into the settings and turn eARC on so then audio will come out through the soundbar. So look for that function in the manual.

I recently got the same TV aswell.

I have my AVR plugged in to HDMI 4 and Nvidia Shield Pro TV in to HDMI 3.

All devices have CEC turned on and all work fine.

    • How do your turn the CEC turned on the TV?

        Channels & Inputs - Inputs - CEC

        • Thanks mate , it’s is greatly appreciated. Cheers

@Sunnyoz: All good. Hope you get it sorted

            • @Whatisthatvelvet: Indeed it did my man , you are a legend ? Any leads for any good tv settings ?

              • +1

                @Sunnyoz: No dramas.

Yeah mate I used settings on Whirlpool forum from user AlinD as a base and made minor changes to suit my liking. He/She listed SDR/HDR/DV settings. All look pretty good to me. The Blur/Judder is a personal preference
