Should I buy this Nissan X-Trail?

I am looking for a car and found 2021 Nissan X-Trail T32 series 3 ST for $23,000 and it comes with 10 months rego as well. It has around 65,000 KM.

Would you recommend buying this car at this price? Looks like it has still years factory warranty left based on 5 years period offered by Nissan.

That factory warranty is also dependent on km travelled. Some are limited, some are not. That X-Trail has done the equivalent of four years of the average km travelled in only two years.

we had an xtrail for maybe 10 years and it had about a million things wrong with it, just like our navarra :) glad to have got rid of both :)

Thanks OP have just reached out to the seller and they have accepted my offer.

    • What? Did you snitch OP’s dream car?

Does it have full service history?
    Was it a rental car?
    Is it on WOVR?
    Have you done PPSR check?

  • No

Lots of kms. Only consider buying if you do a fair bit less than average kms so that when you go to sell it’ll have average kms.

Other than that, if it suits your needs why not? It’s a common car, nothing special.

Wouldn't recommend buying a nissan, once out of warranty so many problems.

    • Really? Thought they were reasonably reliable just a bit bland perhaps with the exception of the CVT and the petrol 3L diesel.

Does it come with $22K in the glove box?

    Sounds like an Uber car

Personally I'd rather look for an ex-rental, but moreso a privately owned vehicle

The answer is the same whenever anyone asks "should I buy an X-Trail". The answer is no.

I once had a Datsun. It's fitout was perfect.
Flogged it all over Europe incl the North Cape.
Apart from being gutless, (Europe had the 1.6l) nothing ever went wrong with it.
Test drove the Leaf: A gutless boring full of led's and beeping noises, the night drive never even made it to half the promised range. My mate's X-trail owners are happy though.

    Manual? Maybe
    CVT? No

These and their CVT Transmissions are a hard pass from me.

Once it's out of warranty i'd dump it.

    • CVTs seem to be generally terrible. I'm not sure what the point of them is.

$27,000 for one with only 23,000kms

The $4k extra is worth it for the 42,000kms less driving imo…

Nissan turned to crap early 2000s, they are no longer a real Jap car, they almost went bankrupt, had a DH CEO who tried to ruin the company, and they never recovered, everything Nissan for the last 20yrs is plagued with problems. Also some of their engineering design choices are saddistic, eg dealer $5000 to change clutch because everything needs to be dropped from under the car.
