(Australia Post) Are Private Bags or Locked Bags Any Better than Boxes and Suites?

I won't start ranting about how much Australia Post drives me crazy. Let's just say I'm really not happy with my PO Box service, even with the Plus Suite option.

Elaborate on why you’re not happy with PO Box service.

Is your post office box with a corporate shop or LPO ?

    • How do i know which it is?

      They keep losing my mail.
      They keep returning my mail.
They keep defacing my mail's stamps with sharpie.
They keep not updating the tracking.
They use blank cards instead of filling out the tracking number.
They make comments about my mail.

        But then you did

HardQuiz insisted. Take it up with him.

  • Free Parcel Locker an option for you? Note they don't do letters though.

  • Not even sure what a locked bag even is, except you used to hear it a lot on addresses to post competition entries to.

Literally a sack, though these days crates I think, that the postie would put your inbound mail. You could collect it from the post office, or they would drop it off.
Useful for receiving bulk volumes of mail like bill payment via cheque or competition entires, so that you could receive a lot of mail and not be tied to a physical address if you bill collection team moved buildings or similar.
Nearest equivalent idea is a 13 or 1800 number.

Private or locked bags won't make a difference as you'll still have the same people receiving and placing you mail into it. Change to a different PO if you're certain all those things are happening at the local PO.

This could be a really interesting topic, but your post is quite vague & lacks examples and context. Can you rewrite it & we’ll try to help out!

consider an MBE private mail box with features such as constantly updateable mail forwarding address, it's a bit more epensive tho and may not be close by

Just change LPOs. Some are great (my last pne was awesome). My new one is allergic to sending sms in My Track 🤦‍♀️
You can also lodge feedback re LPOs to AusPost directly. Sometimes the franchisee needs training.

When I worked for the PMG way back when, it was mainly big companies with large volumes of mail each day that had a private bag. Their mail would not fit in the PO Box so it went into a bag. Someone from the company would come in and pick it up each day. Used to drive me barmy as the bags were heavy and first thing in the morning I'd have a queue of people waiting to buy a five cent stamp for one letter and they were impatient. I guess that's why the existing counter staff gave me the first counter position when I first went to work at that post office. I got most people as they walked in the door. Was glad when I got moved to another location!

As I said, back in the days of the PMG before it was split and became Australia Post and Telecom Australia (now Telstra). I guess this is before your time.

However I was wrong, in 1974, the domestic postage letter rate was 10 cents. My apologies.
