Latitude Data Breach - Reimbursement for Replacement Costs

Hey all,

FYI. When Latitude was compromised earlier this year they said you could replace your compromised documents and they would reimburse you. I've been waiting for them to advise me how, buuuuuuut, I guess they hope you'll forget.

Anyway, for those you are in the same boat:

ref "Detail the reason why you got your ID replaced" what did you put down in that field?
whens the deadline to make a claim i want to renew my passport in august.
has anyone actually been reimbursed replacement costs from optus or latitude?

    • Imbursed only negatively with costs payed by myself

    • I couldn't think of why they would include that question.

I wrote "Because Latitude didn't incorporate sufficient security to prevent my details being leaked."

Regarding the deadline, no idea. They haven't (that I know of) emailed these steps out. I randomly found it last night when hitting up their social media asking for an update (a FAQ was linked to in the auto-message, and the form buried deep within).

So they want to know the new passport number as proof i have replaced it? Hmm good way to for the hack part 2…

Latitude sent me the original email in the middle of March notifying of the hack, 11 weeks later I am still in the dark with regards to what info of mine was taken and what ID they had on file when I signed up years ago. They never sent any follow-up emails apart from one advertising a GEM Visa…

I have sent two sets of support tickets to Latitude since that initial general email (which had no reference no.) with their customer support staff (maybe poorly coded AI) who simply repeat this same paragraph:

"We are contacting individuals who have been impacted by this criminal act. This includes confirming what personal information has been stolen and what we are doing to support them. We appreciate your patience as this process takes place over the next few days."

Has anyone else been notified about what exact info/ID of theirs was stolen and is there another, more effective way to get this dumpster fire of a company to give me this info?

    • I was notified. If you weren't, it's possible (and hopeful) that nothing of yours was leaked.

  • I did receive an email with reference number, but no letter.

    • I never received a physical letter. Just email.
