Were they these exact socks? I use steigen's too and really like them just I've heard great things about balegas from many other runners that I want to give them a go. I've had a feel of these in store and they certainly didn't feel thicker than hiking socks so I'm hoping they're not.
Yes, mine are Blister Resist Quarter. It is a great price though, I never see them on big sale like this though. On a cold day, when I'm not exercising I like toasty tootsies, just not when I'm running. I prefer light and breathable. Its a personal preference though, so if you don't mind your feet getting hot go for it!
I bought some of these socks last year. They are super thick! Thicker than my hiking socks. I only wore them once because my feet just sweltered in them when exercising. Also, because they are so thick my shoes feel a lot tighter on my feet. I am used to running in Steigen socks which are quite the opposite - thin, light and breathable. I might just wear my Balegas around the house on cold Winter days. They pilled a bit on the top but do feel like great quality otherwise.
