Best lightweight laptop 2023 June

I'm going travelling soon and want to buy a super light laptop, but don't want it to be a machine thats going to poo-itself if I have 25 tabs, a few spreadsheets and a couple of powerpoints.

I went into Centrecom and the guy recommended the following two models:

  1. https://www.centrecom.com.au/lenovo-thinkpad-x1-carbon-gen-1…

  2. https://www.centrecom.com.au/asus-zenbook-14-ux3402-14-i7-12…

Both decently priced. What are everyones thoughts on this?

Are there any other machines you would recommend?

I havent purchased a computer in about 10 years.

    Can I buy this:
    - Duty Free
    - Is there an International Warranty?
    - Are there International Adapter Plugs or Voltage issues?

Both are 16GB RAM which is sufficient.

  • Does it have to be a Windows notebook?

    • Yes!

      • Why

        • not interested in apple ecosystem…

  • We rolled out those X1 laptops at work, and had so many come back dead. Like an unusually high amount

    • Hmm interesting! Any insights on why that might be?

      Also any other model recs?

      • The only connection we found was that when some people connected them via usb c to an external monitor, it killed the motherboard

        • Gen 10 or 11?

      • Have you used it? A little concerned about the wobbly screen

  • Dell xps

  • Samsung Galaxy Book3 Pro 14”

  • Ended up by x1 carbon with i7 pro 512gb 32gbram and touchscreen
