"Encashing" eBay Giftcards

I have heaps of ebay gift cards (about $500 worth) but dont know what to use them for.

I remember a while back, there was a bargain where you could buy woolies gift cards on ebay (uk site i think) at a discount. You can't now right? Anything similar?

I don't have much to buy on ebay. Is there a way I can "encash" these ebay gift cards?

probably best to ask a seller to make a listing, pay with eBay GC, and ask him to take his 5% cut or something (he uses $1 or $0 final value fee listing) then you get rest.

    • Would a seller be on the hook to the ATO for GST then?

I don't want to be a BrendanM, but why did you buy $500 worth of eBay gift cards if you don't have much to buy on eBay?

I wanted to get something on eBay, but ended up getting it from somewhere else because the item sold out from eBay.

The only way of really converting to cash is to sell at a loss. Since you will get the most value out of actually spending it on eBay, why not just save it until you need something that you can order through eBay? Many popular stores have a presence on eBay. Next time you need a kitchen or laundry appliance, just buy it through the eBay storefront instead? If you’re really desperate buy something on behalf of a relative or friend and get reimbursed cash.

    • Thank you. I will probably end just keeping till i need it for sonething else… but meanwhile, i was just exploring other potential options.
