Looking for Quality Leather Lounge

Hi everyone,

I am in the market for a new leather lounge.
Looking to find a good quality affordable leather lounge.

Any suggestions for stores in Sydney?
I have looked around but everything is overpriced even though not the best quality.

Thank you all in advance

Looking to spend around $4000.

I dont think $4k will get you anything good.

  • Leather where it counts or full leather couch?

Do you have access to Costco?

    • They may not need to buy their couches in bulk.

i'll take a pallet of couches thanks!

    • When I was in Docklands the other day they had a three seater leather couch, with two seats motorised recliner, for under $1600.

  • Just go to a local furniture shop. Wander around and sit in the ones you like the look of.

That may be OK for a week or two, but after a while, the storekeeper may start to get annoyed with you.

offer them some of your snacks?

  • Stressless make really comfy, long lasting sofas.
    Probably over your $4k though.

  • maybe something like this? https://www.nickscali.com.au/hester-2-5-seat-electric-reclin…

don't know if its good quality though.

  • We got a laz-e-boy setup a few years back, not sure the current the price, might be worth a kidney now?

  • Facebook marketplace can yield some great bargains, people seem to buy couches that are too big/small for their living space all the time.

  • dont do it,
They are much harder to clean and crap always end up in between the cushions and if you have rough skin they can degrade the colour easily, where as fabric is easily striped and washed

    • I got one from Harvey Norman in about 2010, and yeah, it is pretty bad between the cushions from rubbing etc. However my parents about a laz-e-boy around the same time, and there's is still perfect.

  • What are the five grades of leather?

Generally speaking, leather is divided into five different grades: Top-grain leather, full-grain leather, split-grain leather, genuine leather and bonded leather.

Maybe look at King Furniture. Particularly if they have a floor stock sale on.

    • King for a leather sofa?

Just the upgrade alone from basic fabric to leather is probably going to cost more than the OP's entire budget.

      • If you go to the stores during the floor stock sales you can, sometimes, get leather couches at 70% off.

$4k can be enough, or it can be not enough depending on what you want for that. Are you just after say a 3 seater couch, or a 2 & 3 seater? Or a 3 Seater & 2 x recliners? Your desired configuration of lounge will be a big factor in what you can get for $4k.

You probably wont get top grain leather for that price, will likely be corrected grain or split hide.

Dont forget too leather requires maintenance, so many people get leather and never do anything to it to maintain it. Regular wipe downs with a damp cloth, use leather cleaner (not regular soap or detergent) to remove any marks that wont rub off, and the use of conditioning cream to prevent it from drying out.

  • Chesterfield, thick beautiful leather, made to last and pass on through many generations. I have a recliner, a two seater and three seater. Leather can be dyed in different colours. I love the dark green which is almost black.

Amart make good leather couches, from my experience. The type of leather counts though. The best leather is full grain leather, followed by top grain leather. If it says "genuine leather" that doesn't really mean anything, as it could just be bonded or reconstituted leather, where offcuts are blended into a paste and mixed with plastic to create a leather-like surface that won't last long. Personally I've had an Amart Lionel couch for a few years, which isn't bonded leather but isn't top or full grain either. It's somewhere in the middle. They do have a "Signature" range that has all full grain, at the price point you mentioned.

  • There is a factory direct place in Campbelltown, Sydney Furniture Factory which has some options within your budget, depending what size/how many seater you are after.
