Neighbor Chopped Wood near Boundaries House

My neighbor cuts/chopping wood for heating, that's not a problem with me, but the problem is, he chopped it close to the boundaries wall of the house so I can feel the vibration, 1 metre from the wall of the house.

Will it brake my house structure?
is it ok to chop wood or do anything near the wall of the house?

TIA

If your house can’t handle someone cutting wood how would it go during an earthquake?

as long as its less than 10 chops per day your house will be fine

        • +3

I hope so, i felt like I'm in construction site when he chopped the wood, lol

        • +14

10 shall be the amount of chops per day, and no more.
it's that 11th chop that causes the house to spontaneously combust.

Does your house have disc or drum brakes?

        • +1

          it's on besser blocks
          .

          • @Nugs: The best type of brakes.

        • +5

Omg!!! Its typo it should be Break!!!

      • When people say that Aussie houses has poor build quality it doesn't mean that it will brake and collapse whenever the wind blows. There's still standards to adhere to and no your house will still be standing for many decades even after you are gone.

Lol, tell that to the peeps in northern Melb part of the class action with cracked slabs and houses

Just move the house further away from the boundary.

    • +22

That's quite easy in this case as the house has brakes.

    • Remember to undo the brakes before moving.

Will it brake my house structure?

    LOL, it'll be ok.

How much wood could he possibly be chopping?

    • +9

Maybe he’s a competitive wood chopper.

      • on the positive side that means he'll get through the days wood supply very quickly each day.

How much wood would a woodchuck chuck if a woodchuck could chuck wood? He would chuck, he would, as much as he could, and chuck as much wood as a woodchuck would if a woodchuck could chuck wood

I prefer "a woodchuck would chuck as much wood as a wood chuck could if a woodchuck could chuck wood". It directly answers the question.

    • <10. house no braken

I love this forum so much.

I can cut a piece of wood in half just by looking at it. It’s true, I saw it with my own eyes.

@o53djz7qTPY4der did you by accident make your username your password, and your password your username?

      • No his password is his username & password

Unless there is a continuous concrete slab between the chop shop and you house you’ll be fine.

Alternatively buy him a chainsaw and a bunch of chains so he doesn’t need to use an axe.

    • use a logsplitter - will be quieter
depending on the size of the lumbar being split, semi-commercial are 50ton or more, rather than then the small electric models, well, split small pieces of wood

      • Why’d you go and suggest that? Now there’s little chance of getting a follow up thread about a ‘neighbour using a chainsaw right next to my open windows’

all those poor buggas living next to train lines having to rebuild every 2-3 years

My child plays basketball out the back. I'm worried about the neighbour's house now.

      • +6

Stuff the neighbour, what about you guys being homeless after a huge dunk????

        • Don't fake the funk on a nasty dunk

  • +1

ask if he can instead rip the log in half with bare hands, like captain america in Age of Ultron (2015) style

Tonight my prayers will be with OP's neighbours, hoping that fellow can get better people next door.

Damn, now I'm worried about my subwoofers bringing my house down!

    • Bring it on mate, lets have a party!!!

The vibrations probably annoys his wife, which is why he needs to do it close to the boundary wall.

    • The vibrations probably annoys his wife

Not many wives would be "annoyed" by vibrations ;)

    • +1

Yeah i wonder why he didn't do it close to his house??? Why do it close to my house?

      • +2

Wants you to have the resultant termites, or it's a 'signal' to a certain FEMALE living close by

  • -2

they probably dont like you and are doing it on purpose there to annoy you…just guessing though.

    • +3

Nah, i don't care as long it didn't do anything to my house structure.. who cares…

  • +3

Odds are if he's strong enough to move house foundations you're not going to take it up with him directly… Might as well post about it.

  • +4

Just worry about it when he starts 'cutting your grass'.

    • Dont nees good brakes for that but

      Might need bikies after all

  • +2

Sending you some good vibrations ♥

    • I'm sending back to you ❤️

    • Mate, it made vibration on my concrete floor, i don't know about engineering houses, will it cracks my wall or my floors hence i asked who knows better than me

      • +4

If he starts huffing and puffing make sure to get out asap!

Srsly though mate houses are meant to withstand all kinds of stuff so unless there's an earthquake or a hurricane I wouldn't be too worried. :)

        • +2

Thanks mate, i just ordinary people with some stupid questions hahaha. Just worried because this is only house that i have, LoL

nanny state this is what andrews and the communists have done to australia turned common folk into soft (profanity) dibba dobbas. no offence to you op just tuffen up its their land….

    • Next Thread: My neighbour lawn mow too loudly close to my house causing the roof tiles to shake. Will they fly off?

  • Will it brake my house structure?

Unless your house is a vehicle you shouldn't have to worry about applying the brakes.

  • Without a MSPaint drawing clearly showing the layout of both properties, and details of:
    * what type of tree is he chopping, and
    * what model axe/splitter he is using,
the civil engineers of OzBargain are unable to properly assess your query. /s

  • +1

    Seriously?

  • Is your house made out match sticks and duct tape?

  • Bikies, obviously.

  • Is your house on a hill or elevation for example? Too hard for people to imagine. Going to need a photo or drawing. The neighbours have to take care not to damage anything. So everything could be okay normally but accidents happen as well. He could over swing or slip and hit something. Would need to be on his side to check for damage.

  • I thought David Foster retired

  • Hell of a man if he can chop your house down by hand with vibrations alone. I wouldn't upset him.

  • If your house has brembos you're fine

If not, good luck. I would just move out

  • My neighbour is keeping bees along the boundary fence, what do?

And they get into my hair, buzzing

  • Being confident that this isn't a troll is quite upsetting. OP has unsettled my brain and now I want compensation. Can I come and collect some firewood?

  • Record his chopping, then play it back offset to your neighbour‘s chopping. That’s now noise cancelling (NC) headphones work - it’s like NC for the structural Integrity of your house and give you peace of mind for many years to come.
