Ideas for Home Electric Standing Desk

Hi Oz,

Just seeing if anyone has one and can give me some recommendations for what they found useful and not useful with an electric desk/adjustable height desk?

  • I'm sitting at one now, and I can't remember when or even if I've adjusted the height in the last three years. It isn't even plugged in.

Useful - you can stand and work
Not useful - you can stand and work

I change the way I sit all the time, sitting normally but then cross legged and sometimes kneeling on my seat. I do stand, but maybe once a week. I change it at least half hourly just by the various ways I sit though, so for me it’s valuable.

  • Put together a sit stand desk for our study, and added an extra keyboard shelf etc. Everyone's milage may vary but…

    • Presets - Helpful for me, since I know what heights I prefer, especially when standing up for drafting work.
    • Dual Motors - Makes adjusting that little bit quicker whenever you do need to adjust.
    • Sturdiness - All sit stand desks will have some give / movement in them, but read reviews from other users about any stability issues. Adjustable feet (like a fridge) help with this. Also a thick, weighty table top could help.
