Business class return but only 3 star hotels on offer? I'd rather travel on economy/premium for a better hotel.

    • True. You wouldnt spend any time in the hotel on a four day trip though.

      • yeah, just never seem such a werid prize for a trip that prioritises premium flight class over accommodation and experiences (which is non existence here).

I'd much rather bus class for a flight this long so I can arrive fresh and make the most of the few days I have there.
I'm not going on a holiday to spend time inside a hotel room, I am going to explore.
In saying this, I am still unsure how this is valued at 35k, even with bus class - I could do it much cheaper and for much longer (if I had 35k to blow).

      • the "rack rate" of business class flights is a lot more than 35k, you could definitely do it cheaper by booking further in advance, at non peak times, during sales etc etc, but throw in a search on the qantas website for PER to JFK, July 1 to July 7 for 2 adults in business class and it's quoting me $55k for business flex (even on the saver business it's still $40k all up)

        • No savvy OzBargainer would be booking in peak or fussy about the airline for a good bus fare - just saying ;)
See Google Flights and you'll soon see how low it can be had for. I've done it once and I never thought I'd be able to afford it.

    • Just pay for an upgrade or another hotel if you win. Still a win

For $35,000 they could have thrown in some fine dining experiences

Right??? I just don't think it actually adds up to 35k - that must be like worst case scenario, pandemic prices

Just sing along to F. Sinatras New York~ New York~
*hint for people possibly getting called live on air tv

    Thanks OP

Today show will call 3 finalists on Friday morning live on telly and the first to say "new York, new York" when answering wins….just so y'all are aware

Not being sour but that comp seemed suspicious. The winner didn't answer the phone correctly (sang the entire verse instead of just 'New York, New York') and just happened to have her hair/makeup done first thing in the morning while on maternity leave… Is it common practice for competitions to alert the winner early and not have it live as advertised?

Totally suspicious, t&c's said nothing about a video call and I am not being sour either, but she was ready for that call. I would have be in my pyjamas at that hour when I was on maternity leave lol

I am new to comping so I am learning on the job, but a couple of weeks ago I won a radio comp. They called to let me know I might get a call as I was one of the finalists, and they reminded me of the words I needed to say when I took the call.I suspect tv programs do the same. They want to make sure there are no failed calls so they prepare the contestants.

Yep, agree with Murray and BeKind. It is such a load of horseshit when a competition holder can't follow their own Terms and Conditions. Leaves a bad taste in the mouth.
