  • I bought two Oral-B toothbrushes in the last couple of years, both with Li-ION Battery, and they are woeful battery wise compared to my old cheap Soocas. They take twice as long to charge and half as long to run flat.

    • Yeah,I have noticed that even the expensive Oral B models take a long time to charge and dont last very long.

      • Curious. I charged my Smart 1 yesterday, it was done overnight. In contrast, a flat Pro 700 takes nearly 24 hours on the same charging base. And the Smart 1 lasts a bit longer between charges over the Po 700.

This is supported by Home Assistant if you want to … log your toothbrushing. Or trigger automations like "turn on the home alarm if i brush my teeth and it's after 10pm".

    • Good for data harvesting.

  • I've got this brush, $37 from Coles a week or so ago.

A good brush, but full of gimmicks that I'll never use. Bluetooth and a pressure sensor light are two. Better off just buying the entry Lithium-ion battery models for around $50.

    • The pressure sensor is a must-have for many. You'd be surprised how easy is to gradually deteriorate your gums, esp. with harder brushes that Oral-B are by default.

Nobody reads the manual, but these brushes actually mention bleeding gums in the first days of use and that's because they're hard and easy to get carried away.

So yeah, if it flashes red, consider pressing less.

Yeah, I know what it's for, but I've been brushing my teeth for XX years and have been using Braun/oral B electric brushes for much of that. I've never needed a pressure gauge during that time! A gimmick, maybe useful for those who don't know their own strength!
