I use these for Raspberry Pi images, retro computer stuff and in the camera and toss in the drawer for an extra back up when full.
I bought these ones last year when they were about $30 for 5, so a good saving, and they seem to perform OK for my uses.

Damn, I shouldn’t have bought it in December 2020. I taught it was a good price at $9999

    • You bought them in Bull run . You are not alone I bought them in Dec 2022 at $24

64GB sounds as iPhone storage options ;) We need 5pack 512GB or
    microSD NAS drive ;)

  • dang this seems really cheap

  • +1

this is really cheap isnt it?
great for wifi cams, raspberry pis good to stock up on them when they are this cheap

Just be mindful that security cameras usage might kill the standard microSD cards rather quick (weeks to months depending on your usage). Always safer to go with high endurance cards.

Rpi usage should be fine though.

      • Yeh. I agree with you. I’ve got mainly security cams so decided to wait for high endurance card deals

Also doing 5 pack of 128gb for $40

  • The reviews have a few dud cards when used in a security camera so I wouldnt use it for that.

I have these cards on my cheap WiFi camera (continuous reading) since last early Dec. No issue so far

    • +2

Always very skeptical of people who say no issues so far because they don’t read back the data to scrub through, check, and verify file integrity.

Have you done this? If not you saying no issues is absolutely worthless because you wouldn’t know somethings wrong till.. something went wrong when you went to check the footage.

      • +1

If that is your requirement then you will never satisfy. The use case is for recording. Even an NVR writing to hdd made for recording can have file integrity issue.

Fyi I do check for recording when I am getting warning. These card is cheap especially for 5 cards. Adjust the expectation to the price.

Perfect for this SSD made of sd cards:
    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3frnBoqqI_Q

    • Wow that's really going back. When SSDs were so expensive.

These days you get a PCIe bifurcation card that'll take 4 M.2 NVMe SSDs in RAID0 to achieve 15 GB/s.

  • I'm looking for cards for a similar end use (SBC images), but I'm pretty sure you want something with an A-rating (ie A1 / A2) for better OS performance with many small file operations? These cards don't quote one, only a read / write speeds.

Good price. But was under $20 last week. I'll hold for the lower price as I'm in no rush.

Both cards I bought didn't last 2 months. Went back to Amazon for refund.
Didn't have that issue with Samsung cards.

Should have bought a five pack. Those three spares would have come in handy…

  • 128gb available for approx twice as much.

  • Only Sandisk, Samsung and Toshiba(Kioxia) are recommended. Data is expensive.

    • I mean, maybe? I'm not super concerned about a raspberry pi image or some emulator I've downloaded. It's a 5min download to replace.
I transfer pics from my camera the day they are taken, so possibly a risk, but I've had bigger problems when a large storage device fails than one of a bunch of little ones.

I didn't know Kioxia is Toshiba, I assumed they were cheap and cheerful. Good to know, thanks.

Patriot memory arent some no name brand…

    Aww, I don't want five 64gb cards, I want one 256gb card.

  • Arrived today as a 4 pack?? Anyone else? (yet to contact Amazon)

    • Mine came in a white card envelope with a big sticker reading "part of a set, do not separate".
Inside was a little plastic case with four cards and a second plastic case with 1 card.

Last time I bought the red ones and it had 5 retail packed cards.

      • Thanks for the reply… I'd just come down and rechecked - that packet of one must have been stuck in the packaging before because I found it in my reshake!
