Clap your hands if you DESPISE vendors who insult the intelligence of rocks by quoting completely fictional RRP's to give the illusion that a product is massively marked down!

"Check out the Bismarck 9pce knife block set only $159 SAVE 82%" - as stated on the King of 'Conniving' website it was $899!?!?

I mean really……plus it up a bit and claim you sold it for $300, but why make out like you think we're morons and state it was $899?

Laughable stuff……..I await the 'Oh thats what the manufacturer set the RRP at..yada yada'.

And for those of you who, like me (despite the fact I'm pretty bloody familiar with cutting implements) have NEVER HEARD of Bismarck Knives - they seem to have no website and next to nothing written anywhere about them.

A tad amazing for a $900 product there's no details about the HRC (hardness scale0 of the steel nor the alloy used - both things you'd expect from knife blocks selling for $100+ let alone $900 plus! :-D

These apparently want to masquarade as German in original but really are Chinese made with what at best os very run of the mill German steel.

I do get a laugh that Marketing person named them 'Bismarck' to fool the plonkers that they are of Teutonic origin……why not just call them 'Hitler', 'Graf Spee' or 'Goebbels'. ;-)

The sad thing is they MIGHT be average knives and thus compare with the best value entry level knives (Victorinox) but with a retailer misleading this badly I'd not trust them at all.

But don't take my word for it, here's some happy customers:

    :-)

Lesson for today: Don't mislead with fictious RRP's. Its naughty. :-)

    • I agree about the over inflated RRP, but one of the two customers 'Blunt within 2 months' on that linked review is a complete moron. Knives need to be sharpened, properly, not just honed. D'uh.

      • You're completely right in that the average Joe (quite alarmingly) has no reservations handing out several hundred dollars for knives and yet has very little idea how to properly maintain them.

The reality is that a $5 Kiwi branded knife (cheap stamped, soft steel brand popular in Thailand) and an entry level whetstone (~$15) will over the long term outperform ANY knife regardless of its price IF its not able to be maintained properly.

So great point and thanks for flagging it. :-)

ditto for Lebendwell. might as well buy a knife from DX for similar style but better prices

    • Same goes for the Humvee giftset pack, lists price as $159.95, everywhere else its $39.95 or less.

  • Why doesn't the King of Knives sell the king of knives?!??! (Global knives….)

I think you mean Wiltshire Staysharps.

      • Fo shizzle.

Nothing special about the price in the flyer. All product listed is a no name brand, they can put whatever RRP they want and hope someone will take the bait.
But wait, they forget this is OzBargain, which know a great deal more than ordinary consumer out there…

  • No dice

  • Personally i'm a fan of King of Knives and like their annual sales.
This sale isn't as good as previous sales but i went in a got a few bargains.

  • Thanks bought 5 BBQ brush.

  • I'm happy for this deal to be posted, but it's been some years since i've gotten a good deal out of their shops (though i keep going in hoping to relive old times….).

  • Negging due to false rrp. Google a couple, they have other And lower rrp on other sites (eg bear grills knife)
