Coles sends “Collect 1 free product at Coles!” email which is actually BOGOF

Pretty much subj says it all. JFYI, be careful, Coles decided it’s time for some dodgy games, and sends email notifications with subject “Collect 1 free product at Coles!” which is in fact appears to be “Buy 1 BSc Bodyscience Protein Powder 800g-900g, get 1 free BSc Bodyscience High Protein Bar 60g”.

Woolies occasionally sends similar promotions but they are actually offering you free product, not BOGOF catch.

    i got nothing like that

    • These are supposedly personalised offers (even though I never bought any protein powder before).

  • Coles is using misleading advertising though both products look like crap.

  • …how can the be so profitable when they are so generous to their customers???!

I did get a free Oak milk offer this week which is just free, maybe just used the same email headers lol

  • I have received a few of these, tried twice to redeem and they were out of stock. Ignore them now. Never found out if they were BOGOF.

I've had lots of these free offers, never been a BOGOF before, so could be a change or could just be a whoops we screwed up.

Not a BOGOF but a bonus product (gift with purchase). You don't get 2 protein powders for the price of one, just a measly protein bar which is overpriced. I got the same offer in my app yesterday and had to read it twice.

    • Yep, it's even worse, and yet they call it BOGOF in the notification :)

This particular email is like a basket case of false advertising…

        • Subject states collect 1 free product, implying you can just go claim something for free with no purchase
        • Image states BOGOF, implying you buy one product you get another product for free, and the free product actually being included is not shown in the image which to me implies that the free product is another of the product you purchased, not something else entirely
        • Wording is the only correct and clear statement - buy one of this particular product, get this other product for free
  • I asked at Coles before on these…the supplier is doing the Promotion, and the pricing. The Retailers are just the outlets.
And at the end of the day, you do get a Free item(when in stock), T & Cs apply like everything.

Offered the Free Iced Coffee last week, missed out on the supply side, but the T & Cs were still applicable, being a promo - not all stores and dependent on limited stock.

This is just one method manufacturers, wholesalers, and retailers advertise/promote products.

If you can receive and use the freebie, great. If not, there is always next time.
