Is there anything like: Buy now, pay never?

        • Don’t worry it’s sold out now.

Fantastic price for a great watch

    • +1

The only Tissot I like besides the PRX. Shouldn't have bought all that whisky fml

      • +1

The Powermatic 80 is great, have one in my blue seastar (look that up, great watch).

Be nice if the visodate was 38-40mm..

        • +1

I've got a Seastar Powermatic 80 2000 Professional on my wants list.

          • @Astronaut Joe: Just looked it up, 600m wow.
Looks to be bigger? Much more than $850 for the normal one that I got but lovely dial.

            • @G-rig: Yeah I like a chunky watch and at 46mm it's a big 'un.

      • +1

Am I weird for wanting a gold Prx - gotta stop spending so much time in watch forums

      • Agreed, though I’d the GMT Chemin des Tourelles to that list. My wife likes their ladies Le lochles (spelling?)

  • Have this in the 41mm older version. Very nice watch as a daily.

    • Does that have 23 or 25 jewels?
what vibrations per hour - 21,600 bph?
      Does energy reserve last 80hrs?

      • +1

        powermatic 80

if you google you can get all the gory details

$559, add to cart and include your email and shipping information etc but do not purchase. They will then send a unique code for 10% off

    • How long it takes?

      • Still waiting for mine since an hour ago. Will probably arrive once the watch is out of stock lol. :P

  • I have the same watch but the older version. Very nice watch but sadly my daughter dropped the watch from a bit of height and the little border that frames the date has fallen off and is loose. Where is the best place to get this repaired? I don't really trust shopping centre cobblers as reviews for the ones around my area are mixed. I'm in Sydney if that helps.

    • +2

I can not recommend these guys enough for Swiss watch repairs. Price, honesty and attention to detail are unbeatable. They are nextdoor to the Apple Store on George St on level 3. Old school shop. I have had both my Tag and my wife’s Longines serviced by them.

      • Awesome thanks for the recommendation. Will check them out.

  • Is this suitable for women?

    • -4

If you have man hands/forearms , sure

      • -1

You need men's hands/forearms to wear a watch lol?? Is it because you need hairy hands for it to look good?
It's a feminine design, so it would suit women. Size of the watch is entirely subjective no matter your gender.

        • +4

It's a 42mm dial, too large for most women. In fact probably too large for a lot of men too, dress watches wear larger than sports watches.

          • -2

@WatchSnob: It’s better to say it would suit larger wrists. No need to bring gender into it. I don’t know the stats of wrist sizes for women in Australia though. Not sure that’s publicly available?

            • +5

@onlinepred: Mate get off your soapbox, the original question asked if it's suitable for women or not. Take a look at the range for women's watches from any brand and you'll see they are smaller and thinner. That's not just due to wrist size, it's also customer preference that brands have figured out from decades of market research. Ofcourse anyone can buy and wear whatever they want but that's not what people are asking when you take the context into consideration.

              • +3

@WatchSnob: I think you're reading too much into this. I think what onlinepred was getting at is that it depends on the wrist size of the woman in question (in response to pumpkinpieblah). Some women have bigger wrists than average and some men have smaller wrists than average.

It's also hard to tell what the context is with such a short question that is… lacking context.

Personally, I don't think there is a right answer anyway! Like you say, everyone can buy and wear whatever they want.

              • -4

@WatchSnob: I respect your posts mate, I am not on a soapbox. You are reading too much into it. Decades of market research, and still Tissot make large watches for women.
Watches are fashion pieces, fashion is subjective. Wrist sizes are not gender based. Men can have skinny wrists, and women can have thick wrists. It's why we give wrist size recommendations in the watch game.

            • +1

@onlinepred: What he said was generally correct, it would be too large for women and most men. I think most people would have gathered the intended description. Everyone is too sensitive these days, I guess he could have said humans with a wrist size x.

              • -1

@G-rig: Anyone in the watch game use wrist size as a measurement, not gender. If you have a wrist size greater than 6.7", then this would fit well. Irrelevant of gender.

                • @onlinepred: Correct.
Too big, smaller size is better usually for these.

I think most people would have known what he (she, they) meant & not acting like a dick about it.
People love to argue either way on here..

    • +1

No rules but it's pretty big by dress watch standards.
It's probably a modern take not a vintage watch exactly (which are smaller and don't have day/date typically). Personally I prefer no day on autos to save time setting, gets a bit old.

  • should I buy an apple watch or this? similar price range.

    • +6

Apple Watch > planned obsolescence > landfill
This = Can be handed down to your children

      • Phones/laptops/computers are the same, yet we buy them.
Apple watch trumps with features, so if you use those features, obviously the apple watch would be the pick.
You can't use your Tissot as a phone, nor reply to messages, check weather, unlock your phone, silence your phone, control music, take calls etc.
A normal watch can break, so there is no point buying it with an intent to hand it down to your children.

    • +4

Depends what you want out of a watch.
Do you want something which will retain its functionality for decades or would you like something that will be landfill in less than a decade.
Do you want something which looks classy or do you want a generic black square on your wrist.
Do you have a genuine need for the functionality provided by a smart watch or would they just be needless gimmicks.

      • ok. just curious. I havent been buying a wristwatch for a long time and have not followed the market. I thought apple watch would have killed the majority of wristwatch manufactures (especially those with similar price range).

        • +3

IMO it's a trend that is coming back like film cameras.

As above, it depends what you want out of a watch. People would wear a smart watch on the weekday and get a more casual watch on weekends. At that price range, it's also more of a fashion accessory / lifestyle than a necessity hence it hasn't died in that sense. Then you'll get the usual people who's like "I want to disconnect from my devices so I am buying a mechanical watch for its engineering. A Tissot is a good brand to start on top of my Seikos".

  • Nice entry level Swiss watch and great price. Unfortunately it looks to be OOS.

  • +1

Too big for my liking. I'd like to see the same design in 38mm.

    • I think 42mm was an odd choice for this watch. The previous version was 40mm.
It did not have powermatic, though.

      • and the thin bezel makes it look even bigger. It'll probably wear like 43mm.

      • I think I like the 42mm more but I have bigger wrists, sadly missed the deal :(

  • And its sold out!

    High-yield investment

    • -1

You laugh, but I made $2,500 profit on a watch I sold on Friday last week…

      • Nice, what kind of watch and where can you sell them?

        • +1

Tag Heuer Monaco - but a limited edition model. Purchased for $8,000, sold for $10,500. Chrono24 or specialist groups on Facebook.

  • +1

    Phew. It's sold out.

I neither need nor can justify purchasing this - but it is a nice watch.

I have it and its my favourite.
I love it more than my much more expensive longines (gifted).

  • Waiting for a PRX quartz deal

    • +1

If you were interested in the quartz for the smaller size, Tissot have just announced a 35mm Powermatic PRX, .

      • Nah I got a bigish wrist lol

      • That's very small
        Wish they did a 38

        • I agree. As soon as I saw Teddy's video, I thought; they've gone too small.
I would have rather seen 38mm.

    • +1

I got one from eBay (watchlinks), $425 after $5 off.
Ended up selling again, lug to lug a bit bigger than I'd prefer, date window tiny.. very nice bracelet and overall quality thou.

      • That's a great price! Is that deal still available?

  • For anyone who missed out.. I found this one and pulled the trigger

    https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/781786

  • Got one with 5% off, I was actually in-store checking with lady when she said it's 1 available online. So ordered on the spot, pretty lucky I guess!
