I wonder what that will mean for sales and support?

  • Outside of the U.S. and Canada, the company also has operations in Singapore, England, South Korea, Australia, Taiwan and China. Those parts of the business are not included in the bankruptcy proceedings.

Guess we will see if it filters down.

Jenny Craig said Australian operations wouldn't be effected and I think it was less than a week until they closed.

      • There was a Jenny Craig across the parking lot of a Sizzler near me for years after they went under. They both boarded up their windows after a while. Have to wonder if it was those two locations being so close to each other that ruined both businesses…

They should have thought about slimming down their operation.

This is Chapter 11 which means they are trying to trade out of this. It will be interesting to see if they are, ultimately, able to do this or if another company will take them over. They seem to have the same problems a lot of companies get into when they decide to expand their trading. They ended up with too many variations on the same product.

    • They'll trade out of it.

Chapter 11 is an method to wipe your debts clean and then continue to trade/focus on their profitable businesses.

Kmart's Anko does very similar products for a much cheaper price. Who buys Corelle plates these days when Ikea has $0.80 plates. Those are very good quality and has a very similar feel to Corelle.

Ikea plates are trash and thin compared to Corelle. I have purchased both.

If you think they are the same quality, good for you.

How thick does a plate have to be to do everything a plate needs to do?

        • Thick enough so it's not so easily chipped.

The other thing about the Ikea plates and bowls are they are small compared to Corelle (and other regular ceramic/porcelain crockery)

We still have the Ikea ones. We only bring them out at parties as they are cheap and easy to store (until the next party).

          • @JimB: Lol, I have both corelle and ikea and you'd be a fool to believe thicker is harder to chip, almost all the bowls from corelle have chip of sort in them due to that fancy curve design. And the colour fades overtime whilst ikea one stay pristine clear, for 5 times cheaper I can afford them to shatter in piece every time I bump them together rather than chip.

I worked in an Amazon warehouse in the US once about 6 years ago, it was full of these pressure cookers.

I've used a handful of different types and the instant pots are my favourite.

    Great product, it's a pity.

    • Yeah, I've bought the 5.7l one and I can't fault it.

  • So dont buy any of these now? or definitely buy when there is a fire sale?

    • I think if they are cheap enough it's worth a buy. They are solid products

  • Maker of Pyrex or PYREX?

  • Just read this, very sad, love my Pyrex and Corelle.
