OpenChain.online Crypto Wallet Scam?

Hi OzB community. I have a crypto paper wallet which references to OpenChain.online website for checking the wallet.

The website used to work fine back in April but when I'm trying to login now, it gives the error message dumped below. Is this wallet a scam? Is there any other way to recover crypto bought through a paper wallet?

"This site can’t provide a secure connectionopenchain.online sent an invalid response.
ERR_SSL_PROTOCOL_ERROR."

Thanking the community in advance for the assistance.

Never, ever share your wallet details. Especially private keys.

Each wallet have a public address - you can check what is there in the blockchain site https://www.blockchain.com/explorer

    • Thanks @localhost - definitely no concerns around sharing of wallet details since I've never done that. I'll look up the public address when I'm home. Any chance to recover any crypto if the wallet shuts down?

    Is this it?

    • Thanks @pharkurnell - that's a bit worrying. Looks like the funds are gone :-(

  • Also if you have paper wallet generated from that site - move everything out immediately and never use it.

    • wish I could but accesskey[dot]app and openchain[dot]online are both down!

      • HsFailure (error:14094438:SSL routines:ssl3_read_bytes:tlsv1 alert internal error)
The destination openchain.online is not reachable.
Contact your IT administrator with the following error:

That's the error I get. PS: not too worried about my own IP - its masked by corporate VPN lol

You don't need that site to import you private keys.
          Just install exodus - https://www.exodus.com

And remember - your keys, your money.

oh jeez… use ledger or metamask next time

  • I'm confused. Did you really trust websites ending in .online and .app?

    • No to be honest but it was a paper wallet which redirects to those domains - should have done more research…just never thought a wallet itself could collapse or be the mediator of a scam!
