Best Value for Money Bean to Cup Machine

Hello, what is the ozbargain approved bean to cup coffee machine? I recently ordered the Gaggia Anima Deluxe when it was on sale on Costco last week for $550. Before I opened it, I wanted to check if that was a good purchase or if I should have gone with a different model. I would like a bean to cup model and don't want to fiddle with a portafilter.

"fully automatic" coffee machine is the usual name for these.

For $550 i doubt you'd find anything dramatically better, so drink up. Thats a ~1k machine normally

automatic is convenient, but to get the best brew you need to do it the old fashion way with a grinder and espresso machine. not all beans are the same and they all grind differently, and you really need to dial that in manually. definitely a step up from a nespresso, but 1/2 the fun is making coffee manually. it is therapeutic and relaxing to me.

    • I would normally agree with you (I usually tend to over engineer my choices), but I feel like I would only really have the energy to do this during the day. It seems like a lot of work for the initial wake me up caffeine shot.

      • You wont find an auto machine for $550 that is any better (or, really, any auto machine at all for $550). Is it the best one around - perhaps not; but its absolutely the best one for $550 and nothing much under $900 is going to be any better (and even that is debatable). You will have to get into the well over $1000 range to get something better.

If you want the simplest wake up shot, just use a french press. You cant mess them up; I dont think they produce a cup quite as good as a good machine, but many people find the coffee a bit smoother and consistency and ease of use is much higher.

I guess its not really that much easier than an auto press button machine (once you have fiddled around with the auto machine to get what you want) but its definitely way cheaper. You still need a grinder, of course

        • That is good confirmation. Thanks!

  • Following, I had always thought I wanted a full manual setup but honestly after trying out my mates bes920 I just cbf and now looking for full auto…

It's not as hard as some make out. After a few youtube videos on everything you are doing wrong, making a coffee goes from taking a couple of minutes to 10.

If drinking milk based drinks just ask yourself whether or not you want to be steaming the milk manually or need a machine that can do it

That should help narrow your search somewhat.
