What's so good about this thing?

    • +4

      Nothing…..

    • Brand used to be popular before Autocard era among draftmen. Now Ozb try to bring back.

    • Not sure if people are getting things mixed up but the rotring 600 (looks exactly like this) is a very highly regarded mechanical pencil. Personally I wouldnt bother with this for a pen.

    HONEST REVIEW!
I purchased one of these with the last sale. I would not recommend it and it’s popularity confounds me.
    My issues with the pen:
    - I expected it to feel quality but it doesn’t. The machining and fit and finishing is poor. The clicky button isn’t smooth but rough;
    - where the pen tip comes out of the pen through the little tube it actually fits loosely and so when you write the pen tip sort of unsettling wiggles a bit just as you touch it on the paper ( I don’t have this with any other pen I own and it’s actually the most frustrating aspect);
    - the pen is weighty but poorly balanced (I now understand what people mean about a weirdly weighted pen)
    - it’s horribly smooth and I can’t grip the bloody thing
    - the included ink refill was actually very rough and I replaced it
    - the design means you can’t get your hand near the tip which isn’t an issue if that’s now how you hold your pens but it turns out it’s not quite correct for me.

I thought my pen might be fake or a copy so compared with a shop item and it was the same. Since owning it I’ve read more on the topic and found these are common complaints for its price range.

I am not a pen snob. I have a couple of pens in this range but 99.9% of the time I use whatever is free or that I accidentally commandeered.
For the price there would have to be better pens out there.

    What I do like:
    Aesthetically pleasing
    Feels quite strong

Not saying you shouldn’t buy it, just consider the above.

    • Thanks for this.
I've decided to hold off until I've tried one out.

    • I still like mine overall and use it every other day but some of these comments are valid. One other I’d add is that I find the kneeling around the grip to be too small/fine leading to a sort of abrasive feeling when writing. This may be subjective

    • My favourite line in this review is "the design means you can’t get your hand near the tip which isn’t an issue if that’s now how you hold your penis but it turns out it’s not quite correct for me".

    • Some people like this pen and its apples. Others hate this pen and its a pineapple. Personnally I think its a bit of both, its a pen-pineapple-apple-pen.

    • Thanks for the review, I think I stick to my $2.00 Muji ball pen.

    • not a pen man myself but https://www.amazon.com.au/Parker-Jotter-Royal-Chrome-Ballpoi… is good enough for me feels like quality and click, smaller than normal but easy to store/whip out

I have this pen and don't rate it. I actually had a better writing experience with a cheaper disposable fountain pen. Still don't get the hype around this pen.

    • Try search the brand name in wiki

I don't like this pen. It is so uncomfortable and unbalance to hold while writing. The ink leaks in storage. The click action of the pen is also not smooth.

  • How come there’re so many JP Amazon deals lately? :D this is great

    • -1

      Because of currency.

      • +2

Currency exchange is not bad right now but the real reason is Amazon JP only started shipping to Australia a few weeks ago.

I'm not totally sure how it all works but I feel like we never had access to the Japanese branch of Amazon until recently (last 2-3 months maybe?). We've had access to the US and UK branches for a long time, and the German branch for a little while too. Makes me wonder what Amazon bargains we're missing out on from other countries!

    • +1

Japan is a popular destination and having access to the store has been awesome and nostalgic.

Now you can get Japanese prices, importing stuff that's difficult to get here is easier and generally the delivery time has been shockingly quick.

  • Get a Sharpie S-Gel metal barrel instead. Cheaper and better.

  • is this price for 1 pen ?

  • +1

    Overhyped.

  • Their economy is collapsing just like Germany. Thanks to America we can appreciate these cheap prices until we too in the same situation.

    • You need to reduce doom-scrolling
