  • I got two last time I was in Japan and they are pretty good but now looking at getting some yeti ones

    • +2

Yeti are pretty crap imo have numerous mugs and they're the worse

      • Oh damn , what did you not like about them?

        • My Yeti conference mugs, Verkada etc, are pretty good. The lids are bit eh but the mugs themselves are solidly built.

          • @schquid: Was looking to get a yeti rambler 275ml mug and a 1L bottle with chug cap

            • +3

@Jimothy Wongingtons: I did all the online reviews blah blah, headed into store completely ready to hand over my $$$$ for a 1L yeti with chug cap….then picked up the damn thing. Crazy heavy and crazy big. Like big enough that when even half full of water I’d need two hands to put it to my lips.

Also considered the Camelbak range but didn’t like the clumsy cap on/off on the chug version.

Ended up getting one of these instead, love it:
              Coleman Burst™ https://amzn.asia/d/1dx4hXn

                @andresampras:

                ‘That’s what’
                -She

Haha nah thanks for the tip I’ve added the Coleman burst to my shopping list! I guess yeti just has bomb AF marketing, as it looks tough as hell ready to get me through a 100km hikes through Queensland hinterland … and keep my coffee/water hot/cold. Not that I do any of that, I’m puffed just walking to the pantry to get my second pack of party size kettle honey soy chicken kettle chips :’)

            • +1

@Jimothy Wongingtons: Same here. Dreams crushed

              • +2

                @Last Seen: Lol yeah Ikwym

Took me a while to wean myself off the Yeti ownership vision.

Even considered getting the AliExpress ‘knockoffs’ that seem to be out of the same factory, for ~half the price. But in the end I’m glad logic kicked in and I got a bottle that works with my water-consumption goals - can’t get faster access to a chug than a button press. I went from averaging maybe 300mls water in a day, to at least the 1.2L in the Coleman.

Also like the fact I can’t lose the lid :)

I was expecting heat retention but magseal doesn't really offer that and also because it's not a screwtop lid it can also leak. If you just want a mug any will do, but get a vacuum sealed one if you're after heat/cold retention and leak proofing. Hate to say I was a sucker for the brand name.

    • I love my yeti mugs. Yes they're heavier but it keeps my beverage hot for hours. Lids are designed well imo and easy to take apart and wash.

Better insulation. I got Zojirushi and its pretty damn good

      • +2

        Zojirushi Also good 👍👍

      • +2

Agreed - Zojirushi is friggen awesome!

    • +30

"I'd like to speaker to the manager" vibes with that tone

      • +1

LOL gosh. Rough negs i was genuinely curious didnt mean it in that tone lol

    • It keeps water hot or cold the whole day. I took my Zojirushi with me when I went travelling in winter and I always had hot tea to sip on

      • Is this better than the thermos insulated bottles? Thanks

        • +1

I have many insulated bottles and the thermos ones with hot water last maybe 4hrs…the zojirushi stay hot for 12hrs. Im guessing these tiger ones are similar.
Trying to buy it to see if thats the case but its not adding to cart atm.
With cold…they all keep cold for a long time if theres a ice in them. Ive had ice in the bottles after 24hrs

        • I would pick Zojirushi/tiger over thermos

        • Family of 4 and always have drink bottles.
Kids have gone through so many brands which are mostly crap from BAM stores - lids crack, lid springs disappear, lid pins fall out, seals fail or don't work to begin, plastic nozzles go brittle, bottles themselves crack after dropping.

I have a 15 year old Zojirushi for coffee and another for water only. Once the kids pass their oopsies phase that's all we'll get because they're bullet proof.

Tried the Thermos similar style but the seals went moldy so quickly. And they got the same wash and dry treatment as my other bottles.

        • The Thermos ones in Japan is just as good as the Tiger and Zojirushi ones in terms of insulation because the design is almost identical apart from the lid locking system.
          https://www.amazon.com.au/Thermos-JNR-501LTD-PGG-Bottle-Insu…

If you are comparing to the American market Thermos then yes, this one is better.

          • @thispasito: Thanks. The lid on the Japanese thermos seems a bit weird.. would have preferred a spout

    • Indeed, if can drink from water tap

  • Looks like my HidrateSpark smart bottle.

  • Japanese product = buy that shit now, it has advanced magic tech inside 😱😱😱

    • +5

      Made in China

      • +3

        Sent from my Foxconn phone

  • Looks like its expired… Was gonna replace my tiger one from years ago oh well.

  • Showing $65

  • Whoa thanks i got the white for $32.54

    • +1

I got the white one too. I got the Zojirushi which is damn good for $36 two years ago and these look almost identical.

  • +1

Are there any made in Japan mugs?

  • +15

Looks like the newer model available for similar price? Not an expert but the Tiger website lists this one as the new and improved version:

MKA-K060KK Tiger Thermos Bottle, 20.3 fl oz (600 ml), Tiger Thermos Bottle, One-Touch Bottle, Lightweight, Black

  • +1

My zojirushi fell of my rental car from the front windscreen, was resting on the front wipers, black area, black bottle..

Almost started a pile up with the bikes behind

    • +3

Understandable. If I was a thirsty cyclist I would be diving for that water bottle too!

      • Jokes on them. Zojirushi are great for storing pee.

  • Trendy fancy water bottles

    • +1

Lol trendy? People have been using vacuum flasks consistently since the 1920s…
This is also a very standard design in Japan.

      • +1

And this is considered cheap. $25 just gets you something like a Keep cup.

  • +1

Is this a bottle that identifies as a mug or what?
