For a sec I thought it was the base game. $16 vs $9999999!!!

Me Sad! Back to pirated edition.

I think game companies need a website to accept donations from pirates… I would probably pay $20 if I know it was just going to the developer. If I bought it retail for $100 they might get $15. Seriously I would pay them if I knew the money was going to the developers, Australia jacks its prices up a bit sometimes and I don't like donating to the EB games fund and won't pay to wait 2 weeks on a posted item.

I believe it's actually the companies who initially sell the product that jack up the prices, mostly because we take it.

        • +5

Yep it is. Publishers mostly hike up the price at their end. I just wait it out for the sales to buy the retail copy.

Unfortunately we don't have the unity we need to get rid of the regional pricing. Julia should have this regional pricing on her election promises if she wants to continue as a PM.

There's the inquiry happening now, progress is being made. Don't be too harsh.

        • Keep in mind that it is Labor politician Ed Husic who kickstarted the enquiry and won't let go of it. You won't see the Liberals arguing for trade protections for consumers. They are all for free market big business profits.

You don't think it's reasonable that the publishers, who help fund the development of the game, are compensated for their investment?

        • +2

          Compensation? Sure..
What they're getting now is overcompensation. Do you think it's reasonable to sell a game to us for more than what they charge other countries? We even have to pay more for digitally distributed games.

        • No, but that's not the argument he was making. He was saying the developers don't get a fair share of the money that's charged at retail, despite that amount being negotiated when development starts. You shouldn't be able to bypass the investors who helped make the game happen because you feel the developers, who were able to develop it because of the investment, deserve the money.

Whether or not Australians get charged extra for games is a completely separate issue, and I (of course) believe we should pay the same rate as in the US. That being said, it's not unusual for a game to debut in Russia for $15-$20. Should everyone pay $15 for a brand new game? What if the game's development costs aren't made up for if the price charged is only $15? Then good games may not get developed anymore because they aren't profitable.

Yes we are way overcharged for anything gaming related in Australia, but come on, ozbargainer! I bought Skyrim during the Steam Summer Sale for $20! So add this to it, and it's Skyrim + Dawnguard DLC for $36. It's crap compared to the rest of the world, but it'll keep me happy for a while! :)

  • Cheers

  • Good price when you think about Steam price for Australia is $24.99

  • I'm assuming that since this is DLC, it doesn't require Capsule?
I've forgone GMG purchases many times because of it.

    • Same ^

      But yeah, no capsule

  • Looks good, thank you.
