Amazon have a sale on the Civ titles. For those who haven't bought it CIV 5 is $7.49 USD which is bloody good considering it's $69.95 on steam right now! Gods and Kings is quite cheap too.

These look like they are all Steam activated. It says for US customers only but you just drop in a fake US address and you'll be fine.

$12.50 for GOTY edition? Done. :-)

EDIT: can confirm it's activated on Steam, I also bought the Korea pack which activates on Steam too.

    I HATE YOU!!!

No offense but you made me buy the Civ IV Complete pack, which in turn gave me games I can't install (Mac version) now I can't have all my steam games installed :'(

Once you get up to 550+ like me…. you'll get over it ;)

    • Move them into a 'Mac Games' category and minimise it. At least you won't have to see them.

      • Or buy a Mac?..oh wait…yeah nah minimise them

I always worry about putting in a fake US address, as though one day someone will look at it and charge me with fraud

    • Just change the drop-down option from 'all games' to 'installed'.

This game is a time portal.

  • Hmm.. Amazon reviewers didn't give these games high scores for some reason even though game reviewers did.

A lot of people (me included) don't like some of the fundamental changes they made with Civ V (eg, no unit stacking). Hence Civ IV is often recommended as a better choice as the graphics are still decent and the gameplay is considered better by many, and so Civ V is marked down.

    • Most of the poor reviews on Amazon for Civ V are to do with installation and stability issues, not the actual gameplay (though as another comment notes many people preferred Civ IV).

  • Wait… so how do i purchase using my credit card if my billing address has to be a US address?

    • Oh dear god do you read?
Put in a fake address when they ask for it and that's it. They don't check what the actual address is on your credit card.

Oh dear god so everyone is to know that they don't check the actual address on your credit card? if anything, that shows poor security.

        • Yes, because Amazon is going to check the address for every single customer on every single purchase they make…

        • +3

          isn't this often automated?

        • Some online stores make you supply a scan of a CC bill to verify the address. It would only need to be done once, the first time.

Amazon isn't one of these however. But they could if they wanted to.

The other option if they wanted to make it US only is to geo-lock it. You would need a VPN to buy.

  • NVM it worked. Thanks OP!

  • Note: Civ IV Complete Edition also includes Civ IV: Colonization. I was about to purchase both, but realised just before purchase that the Complete edition contained the game I was really after, Colonization.

    Thanks OP.
