Gigabyte M27Q KVM Switcher Question 2x PC's

Hey fellas, I was in the market for a new gaming monitor and a solution to having a work+media centre, along with a gaming PC, and came across something that looks like it could be an all-in-one answer?
https://www.mwave.com.au/product/gigabyte-m27q-27-170hz-qhd-…

Quick question about the KVM functionality of this monitor though which I can't for the life of me find an answer to in any reviews or youtube videos online;
Does anyone know if the USB-C KVM switch supports another Desktop PC itself, or is it only workable for Laptop/Tablet/Phones over that USB-C cable?

I'm guessing there'd need to be another USB-B connector on the Monitor for PC #2 though huh… so maybe I'm better off looking for a standalone KVM Switcher for a 2 PC Setup?

  • Hi Stoibs,
    You can switch input source by using the "OSD Sidekick" Software (take a look to its user manual) or by monitor's control button.
    You must to connect your keyboard and mouse USBs to monitor's 2xUSB-A 3.0 or use a wireless USB-dongle, USB-HUB…
    - You can use monitor's USB-B 3.0 to connect them to your PC#1
    - Then you can use monitor's USB-C to connect them for KVM to your PC#2

    NOTICE that you could use monitor's USB-C as a display input, too [Available inputs: DP, 2xHDMI, USB-C]

    I did not tried to use one of the USB-A 3.0 to connect KB/Mouse to the PC, but it seems it will work as an USB-HUB

      • Then you can use monitor's USB-C to connect them for KVM to your PC#2

      That's what I can't find any info online for. Surely I'd need a USB-C to Display Port (or HDMI) adapter for PC#2?
      I can't imagine I could just use a USB-C to C and plug it from the Monitor's KVM port to the 2nd PC anywhere, right? Unless I'm misunderstanding the power of USB-C.

  • Well, right now I'm using one from monitor's USB-C to PC's USB-A 2.0 and it works ¯_( ͡❛ ͜ʖ ͡❛)_/¯

    • Sorry so just for clarification one of your PC's is just connected via a USB-C in the Monitor to USB-A in the PC, and it works with everything? I'm out of the loop, I would have thought some sort of cable to the display port was required.

    KB [USB-A] <=> Monitor [USB-A] #1
    Mouse [USB-A] <=> Monitor [USB-A] #2
    Monitor [USB-B] <=> PC#1 [USB-A]
    Monitor [USB-C] <=> PC#2 [USB-A]

    Monitor [DP] <=> PC#1 [DP]
    Monitor [HDMI #1] <=> PC#2 [[HDMI]

    You can switch between them by monitor control button or by OSD Sidekick App on each PC
