Phone Holders for Car

Hi all

I'm keen to get a phone holder for the car, mainly to run google maps. Supercheap and co have them in the $50 to $60 range which seems a bit steep. Can anyone recommend something good you've got for a better price?

Cheers

  • Been happy with the scosche magnetic windshield mount

    • Windscreen mounts are ok but for the love of god, don’t put it in you’re line of sight. It’s dangerous and illegal.

One of my pet hates is clowns that put their phone smack bang in the middle of the screen. Seemingly more important to see the phone easily than watch where you’re going. At night it’s worse with a lot up phone screen making it even harder to see out. I wish it was better policed.

  • Not in the same ballpark as the cheap ebay holders, but I took a punt on this at $45 when I was shopping for a decent holder with wireless charging.

Feature packed, and has ticked all the boxes so far
    * Hasn't lost it's grip on the vent & fallen unexpectedly. The clamp is rock solid.
    * It pivots on a ball-joint type thing, so you can angle best for your usual sitting position.
    * The wireless charger works with both my iPhone and android phone.
    * The motorized clamping mechanism was a pleasant surprise - I'd overlooked this when I bought it, so the first time it automatically latched down on my phone when I popped it in was a bit of a wow moment.

Looks nice, I just bought one, thanks. There's also a 30% off coupon onto the already discounted price, so it's only about $15 right now.

No worries! Hope you like it :)

  • I've bought four of these for friends/family over the past year.

Under $15 with current code. Has extender that hooks over the back of the vent and it won't fall out. Rock solid, never sags etc.

    • Looks good. I should mention the phone is a Nokia android though. Are they adjustable or only fit certain models?

      • Fully adjustable.

  • I have a $10 vent mount from Supercheap. Were you after one with charging or some such?

    • Not really because I have a charger adaptor in the car cigarette lighter. A basic holder that adapts to the vent would be fine.

      • Here's something similar to mine from Autobarn

The SCA one I have has gone up to $17. Kmart and reject shop will have cheap ones too

    Cable ties

    • Being an ozbargain miser I'd probably try it but it's for mums car haha

Samsung used to have almost the same holders years ago.

  • If you have a recent iphone then a MagSafe holder that will do wireless charging is probably the way to go, especially if you have wireless CarPlay.

      • I skimmed. OP posts aren't terribly highlighted against regular posts though.

How so? They're in grey shaded boxes; not hard to miss.

Time to get your eyesight checked it seems.

          • @kerfuffle: i have been putting it off for a few years. they spend like an hour each time dying and blasting air into my eyes each time.

  • I bought this one recently and liking it so far. It comes with mag sticker to stick on the back of your phone.

Only regret that i just found out this was released last week (they sent me email for this) but oh well.

  • Finding a durable phone mount has been an ongoing struggle for my car. Cheap plastic that can't handle the Aussie summers, CD mount style wouldn't fit as my cd player was too low to the bottom of the console, Cygnet air vent mount spring mechanism broke when extending to remove phone, it also once snapped back and pinched my finger tip, the Scosche brand window mounts are very sturdy but I have prefer air vent now. Some nice recommendations in this post. I went with this Belkin model https://www.amazon.com.au/Belkin-Vent-Mount-Silver-Black/dp/…

  • Has anyone tried Spigen? Their products are not cheap but I find them reliable quality products.

    • Not for phone holders no; only their cases

  • Kmart airvent one

  • Can anyone recommend one for Mazda CX30 ? its weirdly angled airvent
