100x Fried Bread Dough (Youtiao or YauJahGway)

Hi OzB community

I am hosting morning tea and would like to buy 100 fried bread dough/dough sticks(popular food item in Hong Kong/China/Taiwan and some other places). They are also known as Youtiao or YauJahGway (Mandarin/Cantonese).

Would there be anyone in this vast OzB community know where to buy a large quantity (freshly cooked or frozen) at good value in Sydney? I think they are selling for $5.50-$6 for something like 4 dough sticks at the Asian supermarkets.

I'm not looking to make them as it will involve large quantities of oil and deep frying a very large quantity (and skill);).

Thanks in advance for any suggestions :)

  • surely contacting local places that sell them would be a better option than asking on here?!

JML dumplings in Wolli Creek, about $2.5-$3 each.

  • Ready made ones. Go into your local chinese bread store and ask.

  • If you're close to Cabramatta or an asian bakery, just ask them if they'd do you a deal.

their You tiao,. is something different to what they are like in traditional Chinese restaurants. these are a Taiwanese style and are bloody awesome when you eat them fresh as the guy fry's them throughout the day.

Checkout Hurstville, has alot of places that sell it. With such a large order you can propably get a significant discount maybe too.
