About this item

  • 1296P RESOLUTION DASH CAM: This dash cam captures the road at the front2560x1296P@30fps. It provides a more accurate recording of details and situations that occur during vehicle travel, including license plate numbers, road signs, and other information, which better protects the rights of drivers and helps prove accident responsibility.
  • SUPER NIGHT VERSION: The MINI PRO dash cam is equipped with 5 sets of HD optical lenses and a F2.0 large aperture, which enhances its low-light performance and enables it to capture clear and detailed footage even in dimly lit environments. This feature provides drivers with reliable evidence of any incidents that occur during nighttime driving, which helps to protect their rights and provide crucial information for insurance claims and legal proceedings.
  • 330° ROTATABLE LENS: This dash camera provides great flexibility in installation, allowing you to mount it on either the front or rear window of your vehicle to record either inside or outside of the car, depending on your needs and preferences. This feature lets you capture a wider range of footage, including the road or the interior of the vehicle, providing a more picture of your driving experience.
  • APP CONTROL: It provides a user-friendly way to manage and customize your dash cam's settings and recordings using "DDPAI" app on your smartphone or tablet. You can view a real-time video feed of the road and playback recorded videos, making it convenient to review footage and identify any incidents that occurred during your drive. Additionally, you can download video and easily share them on social media through apps, allowing you to share your driving experience with family and friends.
  • 24H PARKING MONITOR: Allow to record while the vehicle is parked and the engine is off, triggered by built-in sensors detecting motion or impact. It will switch to low-power mode to conserve energy and saves any detected events to a separate file for added security and protection when the engine is off. It can help deter theft or vandalism, and provide evidence of any incidents that may occur while you're away from your vehicle. However, it may require hardwiring kit ASIN: B08LL4L87C.
  • EMERGENCY LOCK: When it detects a sudden impact or collision, the Emergency Lock function will automatically activate and save the current video recording, allowing it to protect specific video recordings from being overwritten or deleted, This prevents it from being overwritten by new footage and ensures that important evidence of an incident or accident is not lost. The locked footage can then be used for insurance claims or legal proceedings, providing added security and peace of mind for drivers.
  • LOOP RECORDING: It saves video footage onto an SD card in a continuous loop, overwriting the oldest recordings when the storage device is full. This ensures that the dash cam never runs out of storage space and always has the latest footage available for viewing. Additionally, it automatically locks the current video file to prevent overwriting in the event of sudden impact or collision. (SD card max support 512G)

I have the 1080p version. cant fault it.

  • Any cheap hardwire set?

  • How do I work with these? Do I grab 2, one for front and back?

    • Coupon only valid for one $20

      • Damn, I grabbed one anyway.

Is that how people are using these things though?

Or do most people just run like front-facing?

        • I think this is front-facing

          • @atom1319: It spins around if you want to do cabin and I assume some of the rear.

I just wonder how people are running their cameras, more specficially in this setup.

I'd have thought the best would be in the middle of the cabin, say on a bracket below your main internal festoon, covering both front and back? So you'd need 2 units though for this setup.

Or even easier would just be having one attached/pointed front on the windshield and one on the rear glass?

I'm not even sure the app would allow 2 cameras in this type of layout/setup.

Or are most 'dashcammers' just running a single, front facing unit to catch more youtube worthy incidents? 😅

            • @WasBargain: To prove faults in an accident a front facing one is usually enough.

              • @FOX: That's what I assumed, plus you can get away with blaming other party in almost any other instance when you're rear ended anyway. That's if they stop.. 😅

Thanks mate, I guess I'll be fine with just a front facing for the few months I'll be here before heading overseas.

  • has this got cable going to cigarette lighter?

or how do you connect it?

    • +1

Yes via cigarette lighter socket or USB port.

      • Hey adr8, do you have this exact one? can you confirm it does? because im looking at the description and it only includes instruction to hardwire the cam to a fusebox and the cabling for it? or and i dumb? cheers

        • yes thats why i was asking as well.

was checking the description and it just says AAA battery included.

unless the box comes with cable and cigarette lighter socket would be great

        • +1

No I don't own this particular dash cam although every dash cam I have purchased has included the cable and charger. AliExpress listings says they're included

  • +2

    hello ding ding piiie!

  • How long would it work for before needing a charge? ie, could you go on holiday for a week and leave it on, or is more like a 12/24 hr thing?

    • +1

An excellent price on this capacitor dash cam from ddpai that ships from Amazon AU.

It doesn’t have a battery in it, only a capacitor. Most of the time a capacitor dash cam has only charge in it to just write the last part of the current file before it shuts down. Need it to be hardwired to record when the car is off.

I did wonder if they were going to specify the type of flux capacitor, but now you have cleared it up. A capacitor to replace the battery. What a novel idea, and even more novel is that they tell the customer!

To my mind it's a bit like a mechanical watch manufacturer proudly telling you it has a bamboo spring.

There are of course benefits to having a bamboo spring in a watch… it means it's partially bio degradable.

Can someone fill me in about the advantages of this device NOT having a battery?

        • +3

A capacitor is able to discharge and charge faster than a battery

Don't know for shore (shaw), but lithium is in big demand and prices are growing, perhaps cheaper also.

          • -2

@Series4Episode10: Thanks… I know the purpose and how capacitors, transistors, transformers, ICs etc work.

I know that a capacitor has various roles, and in this case it is charge storage (unlike other roles like filtering and smoothing).

Lithium batteries are readily and cheaply available. I'd expect the battery in these types of devices are NiMH which are cheaper. There's no need for lithium in this application.

            • @rooster7777: Lithium is cheap huh … NOT

demand outstrips weaker-than-expected lithium supply growth

There won't be enough of the stuff mined during the coming year for the EV industry, which sucks up a huge amount of the stuff!

This is why a battery for a quality power tool costs the same and often more than the tool, depending on the complexity and other factors of the tool to produce, and the amount of cells in the battery.

I live off-grid, "A" grade deep cycle lithium batteries cost 4 times as much a the best quality lead acid same capacity.

Don't tell me lithium is cheap!

You buy it for me I'll call it cheap!

if you park in the sun in summer, the dash cam battery will regularly go over the maximum recommended temperature. Over time that increases the odds of failure. Capacitors don't have that issue, at the expense of only being able to power the camera for a few seconds.

          • -4

@slimpickings: Ahhh…. ponders. Is there a temperature gauge or something on the screen of your gps, to indicate battery temperature?

Think about the logic of your words again… you are saying that a capacitor might be used because it doesn't overheat…. but can only power a camera for a few seconds. You imply (which is true) that a battery lasts a lot longer than a few seconds, but suggest it might stop powering the GPS before it it goes flat if it overheats.

Whether a battery eventually goes flat, or "overheats"…. either way it will last a lot longer than a capacitor likely to be used for energy storage in a gps. A conventional electrolytic capacitor of moderate capacity would cost less than the say 50c of a NiMH battery, but will discharge in seconds. A supercapacitor which can hold a greater charge (but not approaching that of a small battery)…. but costs a crapload more than a battery, and would require a far bigger GPS package.

I can't see any advantage of using a capacitor for charge storage in a gps, and lots of disadvantages. Stills come back to the bamboo spring in a mechanical watch analogy.

            • +2

@rooster7777: Capacitor are desired in dashcams as they normally sit on your car dashboard and in summer will be hit with very high temperatures. If you have a battery operated unit then it can swell and catch fire. If you just want it to record while driving this is fine and how I use mine.

If you spend an extra $15 or so you can get a hardware kit so that the dash cam is powered by your car battery and will continue recording when the car is turned off. No need for the dashcam itself to have a cheap battery in it.

The capacitor is not designed to record while stationary like you’re thinking, it’s just supposed to be there so the dashcam can finish writing the last video and close off the file to avoid file corruption on your microsd card.

                @Agret: Gotcha thanks
So you're telling me all car dashcam batteries are lithium iron…..none are NiMH (nickel metal hydride)… so they are a big fire risk.

I wonder why car accessory GPS units (those many millions of critters that sit in the sun on the windscreen, because they must get a signal from the sky) have internal batteries, either lithium ion or NiMH… and don't catch fire, but dashcams do. One of the wonders of the technical world! ahem.

                • @rooster7777: I found an old GPS in the cupboard that had a massively inflated battery so I guess that would have been a risk if it was still in use.

  • any Japanese or Korean or European or American can has inbuilt dash cam ?

    • You wouldn't want to be stuck with an OEM dashcam for the life of the car. The quality would not stand up to current models after a couple of years and replacements would cost a fortune.

The best thing car manufacturers can do is supply a USB port near the rear view mirror to use for powering any aftermarket dashcam

      • so you saying japanese, korean, euorpean and American car don't have inbuilt dashcam and they can't provide quality won't be high ? …

hmmm interesting after spending $40+ they can't provide basic instrument which is now a necessity …. !

  • Why so cheap?

Dang missed this. Any one recommend another other cheap cameras out there that has wifi real-time stream to an app?

  • In my family, we have Thinkware F800, 70Mai, Azdome and DDPAI Mini 5 and other cheapos. Thinkware F800 and DDPAI mini 5 are the best among them. Our DDPAI Mini 5 is 4K model, so not sure about the quality of the posted model. DDPAI in general are very clear and good C/P ratio.

  • Currently $57. Still a good deal?

  • I missed this one. I only realised today my cheap Navman isn't saving onto my SD card. I need a new dashcam. Shame I missed this deal. I only wanted a cheap one lol
