Well I know they spend a LOT on marketing judged by how many targeted ads I get in Instagram, but what do ozbargainers actually think of this brand?

Let's see. Alibaba sells shoes from $8 a pair to $70 a pair for wholesale. $30 a pair buys you a good pair if you buy at least 200 pairs. These people probably have bought 1000-2000 pairs making them cheaper. Postage would be $22 (aus.post). So $30+22= $52 (cost) the rest $92 is profit but if they invest that profit to market the brand for the first 1-2 years and make it known, then this shoes buiness becomes a regular income stream. (Rinse & Repeat for next product). Massive marketing push is going on at the moment. Again, the idea is to make it a famous name then relax and take home regular income. Product is similar to others-nothing extraordinary.

Err.. this is Allbirds, not some Alibaba reseller.

They developed the whole merino wool shoe thing a few years back, and are now doing a bunch of other natural fibres.

i got sucked in and bought a pair for my gf. she says it's similar to her adidas. I suppose it may depend on the model you buy too. Keyword here is 'start-up'. Things I said above still apply, just wait a few years and once its everywhere (like adidas/puma) it will generate $$ for the owner/s. This startup is at massive marketing stage.

I bought some of the original wool runners maybe 6 years ago. I really liked them. The one thing I didn't love was that the sole wore down fairly fast (2 years?) and was fairly slippery when it was worn.

      Recommend them generally.

    • I’ve been wearing the wool ones (regular and mizzle boot) for years. Love them!

    • I have several Wool Runners, I work from home and wear them all day because they are lightweight and comfy. I also have young kids and dogs so I can't just get about in socks, I get tripped up in thongs and regular shoes are too bulky for kicking about the house.

I'm not a fan of the Tree Runners, they are comfy but I find they get dirty too easily because the outer lining has a perforated effect. You can machine wash them but the Wool Runners much easier to keep clean.

  • They look quite good, how do they fit?

  • I have their Tree Dashers. Amazing fit and super comfortable.

    That's quite a distance. GL

  • I have a pair of tree runners and a pair of tree dashers. Love both of them. The most light and comfortable shoes I have ever worn. I where them everywhere except for running. They have a great understated casual look without all the logos over them like most brands.
