Flat-Bottom Smallish Wok

We have electric stove-top so can only use flat-bottom wok.
(Not switching to gas anytime soon)
Been thru heaps of wok in the past 20-years and still looking for more.

Currently own a cast-iron which is 33cm wide at the top, and the bottom is a bit small.
It's very good to use, super heavy and maintain the heat very well.

Been trying to find a smaller one but hope the bottom is wider.
Prefer NOT non-stick, maybe stainless steel.
Ideally would like to be 2-handle, rather than one long handle.

Trust me, had looked at many many shops and online but only found a nonstick one-handle one. But the non-stick got ruined within a week!

Any help much appreciated.

Have you considered getting a benchtop induction hob? Like this one from Ikea. It's perhaps your only hope of getting decent heat into a wok.

I am not looking for heat, just looking for a flat-bottom smaller wok.

  • Flat bottom woks aren't uncommon. I'm not sure what size you're actually looking for as you say you have a 33cm cast iron and the bottom is a bit small but then go on to say you're looking for something smaller. Woks are always smaller at the bottom than the top otherwise they'd be a pot rather than a wok. So you want smaller than the one you currently find a bit small?

    • Our 33cm cast iron looks more like a cone LOL, very big/wide top, and skinny'sh bottom.

I am after something less "Slanty". Maybe my next bet is a deep skillet.

There is only the two of us and we are small eaters, so just want a smallist walk for day-to-day quick-cooking, and keep the "bigger"/heavier cast iron for more serious stuff.

      • Maybe have a look at the Tefal ones, they tend to have a fairly large base IMO and while they're known for their non stick, they do have an uncoated stainless range I believe.

    • Interesting, will have a read.
Is it more for a pancake or crepe?

      • you put it on induction stove top then put wok on top

  • We have a de buyer wok and it's great!

  • Not a bargain, but I am currently loving my wok from solidteknics.

The bottom is very roomy and withstands high heat well.

They have a 30cm wok with dual handles as well.

If the curve of the wok is not as important, perhaps try a saute pan?
