KFC Add-on Hacks No Longer Working

Well, it looks like the KFC app developer has finally realised that they can link add-ons to the base item, so now if you try and get just the 6pc Hot & Crispy for $7.45 by adding and then removing a family meal, it removes the add-on too.

Just tested it, getting the same as you. Truly a terrible day :(

    Must be management.

Dev don't care about these things

    • +11

Probably management read about it from some big mouth telling the world about it on OzScrewUpKFC

    • Probably a Product Manager looking at the numbers and showing this as 'lost opportunity' and fixing it boosted their quarterly OKR to boost revenue.

      • I wouldn't call them lost opportunity at all! If it wasn't for that hack, not many would have actually stopped by KFC. I'd have gone elsewhere.

  • Noticed last night. Also noticed the addon prices are rubbish.

  • CKF (franchisee of KFC Australia) earlier this week stressed importance of 'margin recovery' in its financial results - ie. they are seeking to maximise profits going forward. Likely means the best deals historically for consumers and least profitable for CKF, will be eliminated.

I will bet their profit will drop due to this change.

isn't that how business works 365 days a year? let alone going forward

I think in general, yes, but sometimes there are periods when you take your eyes off short term profitability for one reason or another. KFC's sales in the past year was up 10%, but profits actually fell 2.5%. KFC's recent commentary suggests to me they will be now instead be re-focusing on lifting profit margins, instead of chasing market share with bargain priced offerings at the expense of profit margins.

  • Would a old version of the KFC app still allow this hack ?

Discovered this last night. KFC is now really expensive!! Giant feast now $51.95 from $46.95.
    10.1% increase..

We now make fakeaway at home.. definitely not the exact same but a giant feast can be made for $23-$26 depending on if Pepsi is on sale. It definitely does taste better!

    • definitely not the exact same but a giant feast can be made for under $25.

thats always been the case :) its more for those that CBF when they work late and on way home.

Yeah but no-one eats fast food because it's cheaper, they eat it because they (a) don't have to cook it and (b) it tastes the way it does.

So by your example you're saying $25 by spending how much time buying and preparing all those ingredients?

  • That's a shame.. oh well. Time to get my fix at Eljannah instead then.

KFC is too expensive now days (apart from the $7 twister deal). Local small businesses do tastier, healthier and cheaper options in my area.

Noooooooooo! Tried everything to get around it but no dice. I want my hot n Crispy add on. This day will go down in history for the worst kfc day ever

    • I suppose you can find an older apk of the app and then just install that. I suppose finding a legit legacy apk will be a bit of a challenge.

Unless a techy here can help.

Still works for me, lesson I guess is don’t update the app. I’m on version 22.0.10

    • Dammit, phone auto updated last night. Happens every Sunday.
      I'm on 23.3.1.

  • I rolled back to 22.0.10 but I'm getting the you have to update page. Dayuummmm

Anyone know how to recompile the apk to remove this popup?
