VHS To PC

Hello, I was hoping to see if you could assist me recently. I was asked to transfer some vhs tapes to my computer and then burn them to DVD. I purchased the necessary equipment, including a VHS to PC converter, but when I connected the Red Yellow White to the USB dongle that came with it, nothing appeared on my monitor/program.

      i just sent dm

  • Mine came with an install disc and a serial number. It was easy to set up.
This may sound like a silly question, but did you plug them in correctly? Yellow on yellow, white on white, red on red?

    • yep at both end one end vcr other end where device is red red white white yellow yellow (not color blind LOL) all drivers are installed but nothing on the application that came with running win 10 pro at 64bit

      • Okay no worries.

Did you fiddle around with the settings in the app? I remember mine wouldn’t work until I selected something from a drop down menu above where the picture should be. It's been several years since I used it, so my memory is a bit sketchy.

        • yeh i did on various os aswell still no change on the screen

If the included software doesn't pan out, try installing OBS and adding your device as a video input source, that will at least allow you to record to mkv or mp4 easily. Even just burning those newer files to a DVD, you'll find most modern dvd players (anything above $50) can simply just play mp4 files regardless of how you author the DVD. When you set the canvas size upon first setup, you'll want 720x576 and 24fps if you can get.

    • nothing came up on the screen even with obs I've sent back the item got a full refund and bought the Elgato capture

      • Sweet, when you get it if it does the same thing make sure it’s installed in device manager.

  • Have you tried QuickTime? File>New Movie Recording, then there’s a little drop down menu to select an external source (Video and Audio).
