I purchased a Sony RX100 camera last year in August (less than 12 months ago) - I have the proof of purchase.
Yesterday the camera stopped working. Completely dead. No life at all. Have switched our batteries, cables etc but to no avail. It's never been dropped and in perfect cosmetic condition.
Can I lodge a Sony Australia warranty claim, given the camera was purchased overseas?
You can lodge a claim. If the camera came with an international warranty then Sony Australia should not reject the claim.
Usually you send it back to country of origin or you could call Sony Au and ask..

The warranty is only valid in the domestic region that the product was purchased from an authorized retailer.
Seems unlikely to be covered here but nothing stopping you asking them..

This was a while ago, but I bought a Sony camera from Japan and it stopped working a few months later. Sony Australia repaired it under warranty

You can lodge for sure, but unless it has an international warranty Sony Australia will reject it.
There is also no consumer rights for products purchased overseas.

There's Sony Tourist Limited Warranty which might apply for you camera, try your luck.
Did you purchase from an official Sony store in Bangkok?
Thankyou everyone for your input. I have the proof of purchase (tax invoice and eft receipt) but not the box nor paperwork that came with the camera. I was passing through Bangkok on the way to Europe for a 4 week trip and didn't have room to carry it around with me.
I've emailed Sony Australia explaining the situation, along with the proof of purchase. I'll update this thread when I have a response.
Does your internet not work when you email Sony Australia?
