After some advice. I bought an Iphone for my mother and she is returning home, i.e leaving Australia. Can she claim the TRS on this iPhone? I checked the TRS website and it mentions that the Tax Invoice for more than $1,000 should have a name that should match the passport name. However, I bought the phone using my name and credit card.

I wonder if the TRS claims desk clerks have a laminated sign on the wall and when someone says 'what if' 'yeah but its my relo's name' etc and they just say, mate, dont make me tap the sign.

How could your mother claim back a tax that she never paid?
Return this one, buy another under her name.
Try going back to the store and ask them if they can re-issue the invoice.
