Street Parking Sign Interpretation

My partner and I just moved to a unit with a single parking spot and we each have a car. I let her park in the designated spot while I'm happy parking my car out on the street. Unfortunately my unit is on a street that does not get allocated a special parking permit from the council; probably because of its close proximity to the train station and CBD.

All of the streets around my unit have 2P or 4P Ticket Mon-Sat 8am to 6pm on the signs. The meters around this area is controlled by EasyPark which has an app that allows you to see what meter covers which side of the street.

On one of the streets around the corner from my unit, only one side of the street is signed '2P Ticket Mon-Sat 8am-6pm' parking; the other side of the street is signed '2P Mon-Sat 8am-6pm'. Looking at the map on the EasyPark app, the side that has the '2P Mon-Sat 8am-6pm' is not covered by any of the meters in the area.

I normally come home just after 6pm on weeknights. If I were to park on the side of the street that has the '2P Mon-Sat 8am-6pm', does that mean I can leave my car there up to 10am the next day without having to pay - given that side of the street is not covered by any meters?

    Yes

    • Thank you!

To me 2P without a stipulation of ticketing means it is free.

So yes your interpretation is correct for me.

Yep, if it doesn't say ticketed i don't see why not.

The limits only cut in from 8am

Yes until 10 am Mon - Sat.

Sleep in on Sundays without having to worry about moving the car every 2 hours

What is incorrect about my comment?

Conceivably you could also arrive at 4pm and stay through to 10am.

Which suburb is this? usually you will be able to get a permit, but will have to park on the next street etc.

  • A curious question, what is the purpose of having both No Stopping and timed Clearway signs?

    Like this.

Isn't no stopping means no stopping 247?
