Prime Day GPU Deals?

What kind of deals have been offered the last few years (since the GPU market went crazy) on prime day?

Am I crazy thinking I might be able to snag a decent deal on an RTX 4070?

This is part of Amazon Prime Day sale for 2023

Unlikely, the prices are generally controlled by the manufacturers, not Amazon directly, but you never know ;)

They were going for ~ $800 with some of those ebay deals for EOFY :/

    https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/125992751625?mkcid=16&mkevt=1&mk…

That's about the cheapest I can find right now, I'm hoping for something around $800.

I have read articles saying that these are just sitting on shelves and GPU sales are low, but Jensen seems to be content to just wait it out while he counts his AI bucks.

    • Best place to maybe ask this kind of question is on a pc centric discord like build a pc or pcmr or tech yes city or any other pc focused discord.

The people in there would have a good feel of the market and know how of this kind of question.

But finding Australian specific information is the hard part but some might know.

Tech Yes City would be your best bet to get a good answer on this.

      • Nah works out about the same. Ebay one is $912.36 delivered. Those are $899 + delivery.

I wouldn't count on seeing any prime day GPU deals.

Best bet for GPUs over the last 12 months has been via the eBay promotions where they release a 15-20% code and the store's missed jacking up the price of all their items. Sometimes even higher discount if stacked with afterpay bonuses.

    • anyway to set up alerts for that type of discount code?

      • If you search the specific model name on this website you can create reminders/notifications however that will only pop up, once a deal is posted here.

Could flag eBay as a subscription for alerts as well.

I think they normally do a big tech sale every few months ~May, August, Oct/Nov - around those months.

New gen 40X0 GPUs are intentionally priced high so they can clear out all the old 30X0 gen stock.

Wouldn't expect any notable discounts until that is mostly cleared, which seems like it will take a while.

why does everyone need the latest GPU??
    are they all AI engineers?

Because I almost tripled my fps going from a 2070 to a 4070ti

  • Looking at amazon listings they seem to sell very close to rrp, so any sales will probably only bring prices down to whats already available elsewhere

  • Trying to snag a 30X0 laptop in prime deal but couldn’t find any with decent discount… :(
