Cheers dude, I needed a new pad.

    This one is better value

It includes a smaller mouse mat too…

Thank you jv - I haven't used this before, but I am not sure if it would compare to the quality of the SteelSeries one? Some mouse pads I have seen before get filthy and are impossible to clean due to the cheapness of the material. From the promo shots it doesn't look as good as the SteelSeries. But yes great alternative if you don't want to shell out the extra $23 or so.

Buy 2 lots of these and you can replace it after a few years and retire your old one to the hobby/kids table

The quality is pretty good. I got this…

        • Fair enough. Worth considering. I think that averaging 4.7 after ~6500 reviews, being on Amazon for about 5 years outlines would indicate the SteelSeries has a decent amount of longevity in it. For me it's worth the extra $23 or so. Not saying the AUKEY isn't great value though.

          • @b2dz: The AUKEY one has only been available since Oct 2022 though…

        • Ausky: 4mm thick
          SteelSeries: 6mm thick

          • @trippy: 1/3 the price, 2/3 the thickness = better value.

4mm is thick enough for a mat anyway…

          • @trippy: Steelseries looks like is also 4mm thick

I've used desk mats with the same materials and stitch as the AUSKY one, as well as higher priced gaming branded ones like Razer, Logitech, etc but not the SteelSeries ones for a long time.

I would say the difference is negligible unless you're into gaming. Gaming branded ones usually emphasise a better weave to make it harder to move on your table when you're flailing your mouse around, and the mouse surface is usually made for less friction to let you mouse around faster (I say usually because at one point Razer was making "speed" and "control" mouse pads where one was slick and one was textured).

For context, my generic AUSKY-like desk mat ended up wrapped up and put away in exchange for a gaming pad pretty early in its life. Personally I would just get the SteelSeries one because I game enough to enjoy it, but it's a niche upgrade when the AUSKY-like ones are quite comfy and aesthetically pleasing too.

      • I play a lot of FPS games and have used both.

QCK are amazing quality. Super smooth and consistent glide. They clean up well too.

Bought a generic recently (jianlong from amazon) and honestly think its on par. My K/D ration didn't change at least. The generic also has a hemmed edge which could make it last longer but irritated my wrist early on til i wore it down a bit.

    • I purchased something similar before, and while it's great value, the SteelSeries Heavy is a little thicker.

      • The one linked is 4mm compared to steelseries 6mm for anyone wondering. I use a 3mm mat, and it is plenty thick enough for office work if that helps anyone.

Why does it need to be thick? You’re not sleeping on it…

        • +1

I've recommended the SteelSeries Heavy to people who have had injuries in the past and they've all said it's been great. Everybody has different needs.

When I nerd rage and slam my desk, it doesn't hurt as much.

    • Need more RGB

  • you can get a custom made pad from aliexpress for about this price if you wanted something that better suits your space

    • Have you bought one before? Any recommendations?

      • Yes Ive bought three, I tried to post the link but it got auto filtered out. From memory I just bought the one with the most orders when I searched custom mouse mat on aliexpress. Worked out to be 30 each for 900x400x4

  • Shame 3XL isn't on special, that looks to be a good size

    • That's 1.22m wide - huge! A bit overkill for me. It also doesn't appear to be the "Heavy" line which is 4mm thick at this size. That one appears to be 2mm

  • The edge on this doesn't look to be sealed in any way. I am looking to replace one I have because the fabric is peeling from the inner material. Would this have that problem?

    • Looks like it, when you check the less favourable reviews. I was tempted but I think I'll pass.

Perfect time to replace mine before CS2

    • Counter Strike 2 is coming out?

      • Yes. But it's more like CS:GO 2 unfortunately.

        • I think he was being sarcastic because it's taking a while for Valve to release it.

  • Bought a similar one at jb hifi for like $10 is this really a bargain?

    • Link?

      • 80x30 https://www.jbhifi.com.au/products/playmax-surface-x2-gaming… $19 now I got it on sale

    • Was the one you bought 90cmx40cm?

  • Same dimensions as the $29 Ikea one I have at work, it's holding up pretty well so far.

I've had this mat for few yeas now and would recommend. Purchased this deal to have another at new job where I have to actually go into the office :)

    Pros
    - Used for avg 8hrs day and the main surface doesn't seem to have degraded (refer cons for edges). No marks / wear where my wrists or mouse sit.
    - Easy to clean. I just put it in the shower every once and a while and scrub with shampoo.
    - flat from box. other mats I've had retained curls for a long time.
    - rubber firm but definitely reduces the harshness over solid desk
    - If you find it's too big can easily trim it and it retains the same adhesion over the whole surface.

    Cons
    - the edge is not sealed. top layer came away from rubber slightly where my forearms rest and overtime most of the same edge followed. I "fixed" this by using a hobby knife to trim away ~1cm and good as new
    - don't spill coffee on it. Quickly absorbs liquids. Use a coaster for any cool drinks and don't spill coffee on it - it's not a great smell.

    • Agree with your comments, ive been using mine for a couple of years and only one edge is starting to (very slightly) come away from the rubber. I have been happy with it and how long it's lasted, but will probably look for edge stitching for the next pad.

  • Just want to point out that the QcK heavy is a particularly good mousepad for games like CS GO. The other alternatives mentioned in the comments don't really compare to this for gayming.

    • good for CS in what way?

      • It's a slower control pad with decent breaking
