Edit: Dyson Have 2 Different Capacity Batteries for The Same Product

Just picked up a couple of Dyson v7 Advanced SV37 vac's part of the EOFYS and one of them has a manufacture date in 2021 and one in 2022 and I have noticed that the battery capacity on them are different.

The one made is 2021 has a capacity of 65wh 2800mah and the one made is 2022 has a capacity of 53.2wh 2415mah, I ended comparing the runtimes and the 2021 ran for roughly 30 minutes on hard floors with the motorbar head on it and the 2022 ran for roughly 23 minutes with the motorbar head both from full charge.

Dyson denied that they changed the capacity of the battery when I reached out to have them send me the correct one but when I sent a photo showing them they claimed that even though the WH has been reduced the new battery has been engineered to last longer than the old battery does. What my finding show wasn't the case I ended up returning the one with the lower WH battery and the store found me one with he higher capacity battery to replace it with so I'm all good now but…

just a heads up check your Dyson batteries because one of mine didn't match the spec sheet or what the store had on display.

Response: Dyson had a engineer reach out to me directly regarding this and they have advised that its not changed based on manufacturing date but rather the supplier. The claim is that even though both suppliers have a different WH rating the lower capacity batteries still comply with the up to 40mins claim. They advised that they have done tests to confirm these claims.

I have edited the subject to provide more accurate information.

Not for $268 you cant. Also I posted to share Dyson denied changing it misleading its customers. It's not just the v7 its also the v8 and v10 both had a different capacity from checking in store and comparing the display unit to the stock on shelf when I returned it.

Also its highly likely all of them have but I couldn't check them all so that's why I said check your battery.

Doubtful they will likely have something in the terms somewhere that it might have variations without warning ect ect a lot of terms usually say something similar to that in them. But knowing can help you chose what to buy and what to avoid.

  • where can you check?

On the bottom of the battery it will have a wh and mah rating usually in the top left.
