http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/NEW-Canon-EOS-650D-Twin-Lens-Kit-…

Ranked by T3 magazine as the best DSLR on the market, the Canon EOS 650D has only been released in the market for 2 months, but here’s your opportunity to get your hands on this sought-after DSLR and twin lens kit, thanks to Group Deal!
You may not notice many physical differences to the EOS 600D at first glance. They’re both equipped with 18MP CMOS sensor, a 3” LCD and is of similar weight and size. However, Canon has installed many high-end features into the Canon EOS 650D like never before. You will be so impressed by its new powerful features that you may be enticed to upgrade your camera.
First Entry Level DSLR with DIGIC 5
The Canon EOS 650D is the first Canon entry level DSLR that is equipped with the DIGIC 5 processor. It is said to be 6 times faster and has 75% more noise reduction than the DIGIC 4 (in 600D). This means by comparison, the 650D is more capable at taking pictures at a 5fps burst rate while simultaneously sustaining the image quality. In addition, it also analyses four times more image information to record more details and colour.
AF 9-point Cross-type System
The 650D has inherited this AF system from the higher end Canon EOS 60D SLR that many people loved. Although the numbers of AF points are identical to the 600D, the Canon EOS 650D uses a Cross-type system. This enables a much better focus which allows the centre AF points to gain sensitivity even with apertures up to f/2.8.
Hybrid AF System
Canon has taken great pains to make this camera not only a high performer in still shots but also a high performer in video recording. The Canon EOS 650D uses the Hybrid AF system that enables continuous auto-focus tracking while recording. This feature is made possible via a new sensor technology by which some pixels are dedicated to phase-detection AF (used in SLRS) and others to contrast detection AF (used in video cameras). The Hybrid AF function is available in all lenses and can be further enhanced by Canon’s STM lens.
First DSLR with Touch Screen
Apart from the 3” vari-angle LCD screen like its predecessor, like its predecessor but with touchscreen features! It enables you to control the settings without fiddling with buttons. This feature provides user a degree of convenience especially when in playback mode. Users can zoom in and out just like using their smartphones.
The Canon EOS 650D has a number of fantastic features and upgrades. The camera’s high performance would enable a beginner to take pictures and even videos like a pro. For those who wants to kick-start with SLR cameras or even if you are only looking for an upgrade, this is your only chance! Don’t pay up to $1,499 in some places. For just $890.00, you can have this Canon EOS 650D 18-55mm IS II kit with an additional Canon EF-S 55-250mm IS II telephoto lens delivered to you. Delivery is via express courier from Hong Kong and should take between 3- 5 working days after full payment is received.

  • good camera but not sure if touch screen will affect battery life (usually it will).
also, compare with aus electronic store, this price is cheaper around $250-300 or more.

… over 25% profit margin for local stores?

    • Over 25% profit margin for canon distribution.

    • Has anyone bought one of these yet? How long do they take to ship?

    Didn't you post this earlier???

    There's no ABN

    • I just looked it up and added it to the description.

      ABN: 61149524489

Mods shouldn't have to waste their time doing that, OP should post items properly…

      • +1

thank you and sorry for that

    • It was removed because the deal wasn't active. There was another deal (same camera) but for $999 that had no ABN.

  • The big lense is not image stabilised. I think that will need to be used with a tripod generally, no shots of moving objects especially video.

    • +1

read the contents, both lenses are image stabilised

      • Canon EF-S 18-55mm IS II Lens x 1
      • Canon EF-S 55-250mm IS II Lens x 1

      • You're right. I actually clicked on the link in the description "Here is the offfical ebay page after the deal ends for $999 from the same seller".

The lense on that page is a 75-300 non-stabilised, so it's actually not the same deal. I guess if I had said 75-300 rather than "big lense", it would have been clear that I was looking at something different :)

"Ranked by T3 magazine as the best DSLR on the market"

Not sure if this is a total misquote, or if the magazine is staffed by morons. But it's completely wrong, either way.

    • yea not sure why it says that just copied the article from the seller

    • Why is it wrong?

Who did T3 rank as the best DSLR ???

      • It's wrong because it's ridiculous. It's a good mid-level consumer model, but it's got nothing on a professional DSLR.

      • -1

It's wrong because anyone with half a clue about cameras knows it's a low-end model, and is light-years away from the likes of the top-line 1D-X.

It's a fine camera for what it is, but "Ranked by T3 magazine as the best DSLR on the market" is about as honest as calling the Kia Rio "the best car on the market".

Any vendor using that as a description should be thought of as VERY dodgy/dishonest. Buyer beware.

    • Guys… T3 indicates that it is the best DSLR to "buy". The seller is a bit dodgy and just chopped off the last part of the statement.

If you don't have a DSLR already, in a way, 650D is a good choice. It uses the latest Canon CPU (Digic 5) and has the nice touch screen. It is one of the two current gen. consumer DSLRs (the other one is Nikon D3200 I think). Sure, 60D, 7D are better in terms of build (and 7D performs better), but you cannot help but think that their next revisions are coming.

Best DSLR to buy (for now) does not mean it is the best DSLR.

      • not a good argument - best DSLR 'to buy' depends entirely on who is buying.

  • +1

    This is a good deal.

I only got the 60D + stock kit for $840 @ JB Hifi deal.

    • That means you missed the 15% off sale a few weeks ago.

  • I was interested in the Nikon D5100, but I'm not sure what to make of this deal/where this fits in. The reviews I have read seem to indicate they are quite similar, but the Nikon is older and slightly more expensive.

I am a beginner at DSLR's and I am willing to spend around 800-1100 on the body and lens, and will probably have this camera for a very long time as I do not plan on getting a new one. I am not too concerned about which one is easier to learn because I will be able to learn, I am more concerned about the long run investment

This is quite a big purchase for me and any advice on the price vs quality vs generation between these two cameras (or any others) would be great!

I will most definitely be buying one before going overseas in November

Suggestions aside from this specific deal (good permanent websites, preferably in Aus) would be ideal as claiming back GST needs to be within a month of the departure date if I remember correctly

Any help would be greatly appreciated :]

It all comes down to how you use it, I have bought a D7000 and probably 10 Nikon lenses to go with it besides all the accessories and fluff, for the first 6 months great, after that it has not come out for the closet for the next 6 months. Take a long hard look and ask yourself how often you will use it. If you are not out and about you will be tired trying to take 150 closeup shots of flowers in your backyard.

Not trying to scare anyone but once you end up with a backpack that ends up weighing 7+ Kgs you really think was it worth it. Consider your initial buy as only 30% of your outlay, after that it just keeps adding up. if you can use it great, otherwise the new small camera's with detachable lenses may be the one that you may end up using longer.

Might be worth waiting for the Canon EOS M instead http://www.dpreview.com/previews/canon-eos-m

To all intents and purposes it's a mirrorless version of the recently-announced EOS 650D, but with a simpler interface that's designed to be more approachable for novice users, and obviously much more compact in size. It's based around a new 'EF-M' lens mount, and two matched lenses will be available at launch: the EF-M 18-55mm f/3.5-5.6 IS STM zoom, and the EF-M 22mm f/2 STM 'pancake' prime. But it's still very much part of the EOS system, and all of the company's existing EF and EF-S SLR lenses can be used via the co-announced 'Mount adapter EF-EOS M'.

    WARNING!!

    http://www.canon.com.au/Support-Services/Support-News/Servic…

650D currently being recalled.. certain serials..

  • Why haven't more people voted this as positive?
I've been looking at getting a camera for AGES now, and this seems like a very good price, and I was probably going to get a 650D..
Is there any reason why I shouldn't go for this deal?

    • Beware of recall

      • If you end up with that serial, just send it in for a free replacement.

        • Still alot of hassles

        • Its a hassle, but theres a chance you wont get one of the issue products (see willchang's post) and it may be worth it if the price is good.

      • +2

I have asked them if they are aware of the recall, Hhere is the reply I got from the seller.

        Hi xxxx,

        Thank you for your inquiry.

We assure our stock are not affected batch as we've checked one by one when they came.

        Regards
        Ella

      Buy it!
It's an excellent price on an excellent camera and twin lens kit.
This camera has all canon's very latest bells and whistles on it and with the range from those two lenses should serve you well for many years.

      I haven't seen a better price.

  • I went ahead and bought in on the deal - Thank you surfbum and OP :)

  • After considerable research…best entry level out there. I was buyer number 492 out of 500, almost sold out now.

  • Sold out! Bought 3!

  • Just wanted to add my thanks to blackspidey.
