  • Does it do spin???

    • i'd imagine it would.

Since it doesn't appear to have a drum, I don't see how it could.

EDIT: To clarify, I don't see how it could spin-DRY, although it seems to have a small agitator at the bottom of the tub (or as the seller's website has it, a "Three-Dimensional Pulsator").

    • "Plugs into any 240v mains outlet" - one would assume that it spins

Nezuji is right, it doesn't spin (dry) like a regular washing machine.

It's basically a bucket with an agitator. You have to manually drain the water too. A typical cycle would be:

        • Insert clothes and detergent
        • Make sure the drain hose is clipped up like in the photo
        • Fill the tub with water. It should come with a hose that you plug into your tap.
        • Set the timer and let it wash.
        • After it washes, unclip the drain hose and let the water drain out.
        • Once all the water drains out, clip up the hose and fill the tub with water again.
        • Set the timer and let it rinse.
        • After it rinses, unclip the drain hose and let the water drain out.
        • Repeat the rinsing stage one more time if the clothes are still soapy.

As you can imagine, as there's no spin dry feature, your clothes will be soaking wet at the end of the whole wash cycle.

Why? That could be just for washing agitation.

Perhaps there is a rope attached to the unit and after the wash cycle finishes, you grab the rope and swing the machine around like a Billy :)

        • I love those salad washing bowls that spin!

That said… it sounds like a lot of effort.

        • Thanks for the idea, I was thinking how I'm going to dry it without spin dry!

Hayden from Mooney Ponds gave this feedback for a similar model ….

"Excellent value! Fast postage! Great Flash Drive! I would highly recommend Top Buy for effiency and price."

Just save your $99 and wash your clothes by hand.

I was not aware Ozbargainers actually washed.

    • If you aren't keen for an electric one, I read about this one in Anthill recently - The Scrubba Wash bag - for portable handwashing on the go.

  • 1.5kg is next to nothing - thats the weight limit when clothes are wet right?

    • +1

Nah, that's when clothes are dry. Wet would be too difficult to estimate - some materials absorb way more water than others. 1.5kg is a 1.5L bottle of water.

I do laundry about once a week, so when I have small things like cycling gear that need to be washed immediately, I just use the mini machine.

      • +1

You probably use more water and power than half filling a normal washing machine

        • If compared to a new front loader, quite possibly. But if your regular washer is an oldschool top loader, it'll most likely use less power and water.

500+ clicks just to go "WTF IS THAT?"

  • now i just have to wait for a mini portable clothes dryer..

    • you can hang it outside

  • useless junk

  • Rubbish.

This takes me back to the old twin tub days, it's "automatic" but you still have to be there do everything.

  • I had this type of machine when I was a student, about 25 years ago. It was good for when I didn't want to go down and do the whole laundry room thing. If the quality is sufficient, I'd say it would be good for folks who have a caravan or boat. If you are paying a caravan park for power, the power and water usage would presumably be a non issue. I have no idea what public machines cost to use, but this would be ideal for a few small things. I HATE washing fabric by hand. Probably not for jeans, towels and manchester, but yeah, I'd buy this or something similar if my circumstances were that I wanted to avoid a communal laundry room or couldn't make the openning hours or if I was away for extended periods travelling in a boat or caravan. Perhaps even a cabin without a big washing machine.

  • At 34 cm square it's not going to hold much is it?

If you have just a few things to wash these type of things are good. They come up on special at BCF every so often for around $40
