Solar Panel Installs in NSW!

Hi all

I have been tasked with finding the company a provider/installer for solar panels on a commercial property(warehouse)

Now given my experience with the industry its pretty shady, plenty of dodgy operators out there using the rebates as the main selling point, it seems a lot of companies are playing the call center then contracting out the actual work to smaller sole operators - as a result the last guy in charge of this stuff had our water heaters changed over and the job that was done was horrendously bad, trying to rectify these issues is a rats maze of call centers and passing the buck with no way to contact the actual contractor that did the work. Of course I want to avoid all that crap this second time around.

Can someone recommend me some providers that can quote up and do the install job? Obviously this is where find me a bargain comes into it, the cheaper the better. I have already reached out to Origin Energy as they are our electricity provider(haven't heard back yet), I just don't know any other businesses in the sphere well enough to trust they aren't another call center contracting the work out, given the scope of the works it would be a lot worse if the job was done dodgy compared to the water heaters.

Lastly, I apologise in advance if this should be in another topic location, I had a look through the options and really couldn't decide if it fit in electronics, home/garden or this. I hope I got it right!

Thanks all.

You need to avoid the people who just sub-contract, and I think that includes Origin.
The reliable installers where I am have case studies on their websites of projects they have run for commercial installs, so you can potentially call a couple of their customers and get some feedback.

You don’t describe what sort of power usage you have. If you are a real estate office, you probably need something more at the home user end of things, but if you are a 3-hectare refridgerated warehouse, your project will need permissions from the power transmission networks and other more complex things.

    • Yeah that is exactly what I am trying to do, hoping some people here can recommend Sydney providers/installers that don't subcontract. I know Origin would subcontract being an electricity provider company but I figured being an established company there would at least be a paper trail to rectify issues that may arrise.

    • Lets be honest, pretty much all of them subcontract, which isn't actually that bad of a thing.

When i had mine installed ($2500, 6.6kw system) the retailer selling me the system subcontracted all their work to one installer.
The installer turned up and said they pretty much do everything from small scale residential to $250k commercial installations. They were in and out within 4 hours and 2.5 years later haven't had any issues.

      Would highly recommend.

Otherwise just go to solar quotes and let them fight it out.

  • Call Andrew at AHE Group

A rare solar sparky who is qualified, down to earth and reasonably priced

    • Another happy customer here. I got my 10kW system done a few years back and it was all done by their in-house team- great attitude young blokes. Foreman came to check the site before job site started (and made recommendations on how to orientate the panels) and came back to check afterwards.

Haven't had to call them back since. Installation still neat and tidy. Silicone still sealing strong.

They weren't the cheapest quote but I remember the cost difference was fairly minor. Thing with low margin cut price installers is good luck getting them back to fix anything. You don't operate with low margins by sending teams out to work on jobs already paid for.

    • Did www.ahegroup.com.au used to be http://www.hannaelectrical.com/??

  • DO NOT use My Energy Group. My experience with them was sub-optimal.
