My father in law is thinking about ditching his telstra mobile which will therefore mean I won't get the cheap tickets anymore for the movies plus the occasional subscription service deal like stan, kayo etc.
Are you still able to just buy a $2 sim and sign up via that way to take part in the deals or does that not work anymore?
Any information would be appreciated.

@jv: That’s right. There’s cheaper data, but some other telcos aren’t shaped unlimited. And most don’t offer unmetered lossless Apple Music.
You don't need an active service to get cheap Telstra Plus Movie tickets.
I haven't had a proper Telstra service since the shut down of Telstra PrePaid Plus a few years ago (Been with Boost for more than 24 months easily) and bought cheap movie tickets only a couple of weeks ago.

Do you have RACQ (or equivalent) membership? You can get cheap tickets through them - I liked it when our girls were young as they also sell kids' tickets.
Telstra's are $13.50 each and you can get the 20% off gift vouchers yearly so I'd say that would be a fair bit cheaper than telstra movie tickets.

Telstra's $25 20GB data sim monthly plan isn't too bad if you have a device that will use use it. It used to be $15 a month which was a pretty good deal considering it shapes after the included data is used.
