Brand New Energy Efficient Fridge

Anyone know the best place online or at a store where I can buy an energy efficient fridge. I'm looking to spend under $500. According to appliances online for 1 -2 people the combined fridge & freezer size range should be 200 - 380 range. My current fridge is too old and too big just for me at 480L and is most likely costing me more to run. I would also like to know the energy star rating, the KW rating and overall yearly running costs of any recommended fridges and their brands.

  • I was just about to look up the Choice recommendations for you and noticed my membership had expired!

I purchased a Hisense fridge for a like half the price of other brands a couple of months back and it has been great.

$33 a qtr for the magazine and online guides.

I'll post the table and stuff when they reactivate my membership.

    • hi funkyblue thank you for your reply. What store/ site did you buy your Hisense fridge and how much did it cost you. Will the Choice recommendations go into detail on which brand is best on price, kw rating running costs etc.

  • Hi jamesvre, I'm looking for something to last a few years with the lowest total cost (upfront and running costs).

Cheapest fridge I can find is GVA247 at TGG for $373 with a twelve month warranty

They also have a special on the Westinghouse Fridge WTM2000WCRH for $399 with a two year warranty ($496 at Appliances Online)

IKEA has the ENERGISK FCF145/52 for $399 with a five year warranty

There are a few fridges around the $400-500 mark that can be found at multiple appliance stores.

    Hisense HR6TFF222 - $416 TGG, $438 Harvey Norman
Samsung Fridge SR215MW - $427 Appliances Online, $479 Harvey Norman
    LG Fridge GN205VW - $437 TGG, $467 Appliances Online, $479 Harvey Norman
    Whirlpool Fridge WRI21VWA - $458 Appliancs Online, $466 TGG, $499 Harvey Norman
    Westinghouse Fridge WTM1800WCRH - $471 Appliances online
    Lemair Fridge RD280FFM - $498 Appliances Online
    Beko Fridge DNE25020 - $499 Appliances Online

    Haven't included delivery costs.

The Samsung has the highest energy efficiency rating, the Lemair has the largest volume (280L).

  • mls82 thank you for your detailed findings and recommendations I'm trying to look for the lowest upfront costs and running cost as well. I realize looking for a new fridge that is energy efficient is a tough task but you have at least made it not as complicated. I love Samsung products so right now the Samsung fridge looks good especially it being the highest energy efficiency rating and the features of the fridge. Even better it is free delivery to my suburb with Appliances Online.
