    This knife you're getting VG10 at the cutting edge but the rest of it is softer steel. I think generally Kai Shun dont make VG10 knives, they use AUS8 or something else

  Will this blade work with a magnetic knife holder? I was looking at some wood ones, figured that the wood wouldn't mark the blade. I was after something with a small footprint to hold it.

    youll end up scratching the steel with normal use, cleaning, and maintenance anyway. Magnetic ones arent the best either.
