TV Replacement - Assistance on Which to Pick

I have a Hisense 65" about 2y old and it just went dark on Sunday. I can either get a replacement 65" or store credit (Betta Knox).

The TV they want to give me as a replacement is: https://www.betta.com.au/hisense-65-inch-4k-uhd-smart-tv-829…

But considering I can get store credit and kind of wanted a 75" for a while now I am looking at these:

Hisense: https://www.betta.com.au/hisense-4k-uhd-smart-tv-75-829995

LG: https://www.betta.com.au/lg-4k-ur8050-series-uhd-led-smart-t…

Samsung: https://www.betta.com.au/samsung-cu8000-crystal-uhd-4k-smart…

Seems like the previous generation of Hisense TV's had better specs, for example the U7HAU had 200 SMR vs the new 120 aand Full array local dimmings vs Super Contrast (unless I"m wrong in the understanding of this..)

That said, I'm leaning towards the LG as I think its a better brand than Hisense. But I have had issues previously with LG + Arc + Plex etc. The Samsung… Well feels a bit much to be honest but at least there's a $250 gift card with it lol

  • Tough one:

LG tells you: You are 80
Samsung: See you when you turn 80
My Hisense died 5 mins past its warranty!

  • " LG as I think its a better brand than Hisense."
    Even models between brands vary.
I've been burnt by poor LG crap and support, so erased them from my shopping list forever.
Support, reviews and warranty etc should guide you more than fan faves

In my opinion, stay away from LG - Poor Quality Control on their main boards
I have had 3 LG 65" TV's in a 3 year period (only paid for the 1st unit, the other 2 were warranty replacements), all 3 had faulty soldering on their power supply boards resulting in 'Dry Joints' around the capacitors, causing the TV's to randomly turn on / off (confirmed known issue by TV Tech.)
Hardly Normal (Harvey Norman) wanted me to do all the ground work and liaise with LG, I declined, told them I did not buy the TV's from LG and pushed for my consumer rights and requested (demanded) a new replacement - I won on both occasions.
Now have a Samsung , 2 years old , so far all good.

    • Noticed the LG only has a 1 year warranty.. Doesn't shout reliable to me..

      • All the big brands are 1yr warranty, Samsung,Sony and LG but ACL will give you consumer rights beyond the manufactures warranty

I would never get an LG that is not an OLED. Budget Samsung TVs like the one you linked also poor. Check out 4K TV on Reddit and you’ll see what I mean.

Your best bet of the ones you listed is probably the Hisense, but if I were you’d I’d look at something like the TCL C835 if you can still get one. That TV will be far, far superior to any of the ones you listed. Superior picture quality, processing, motion handling, OS, sound…Literally everything.
My parents own a similar Hisense, my brother owns the TCL and I own a Sony X90J. The TCL is streets ahead of the Hisense, and almost on par with the Sony, but there is a significant price difference between the Sony and TCL, so the TCL is probably best value too.

  • I just got the Hisense 65' that they are offering you . Great TV . Got it for $930 price match with JB HiFi .

    • Yea so far the 75" might be the way.. seems LG is not the great.. have you connected the tv to google home yet? My previous model said it was supported but never got it connected

  • Yea but shtty to be limited to Betta so.. @Chilza381 guy told me today that the clearance items are all sold so the 75" 835 is gone. There might be a 65" but would like a 75".

    What about the TCL 75P745
