GPS not having clear access to good signals all the time. I gather it is from a mobile phone in a car. Cars are metal that tends block/interfere with GPS signals and glass with metal base tints on them also tend to block/interfere with GPS signals.

Is it because you didn't turn on "precise location" under location services on your phone?

How big are the detours? Are they just a couple of hundred metres deviation here and there, or are they significant "yeah it said I went to my ex's place on the way to work but I didn't babe you hafta believe me" detours?

When I take the guided bus way Google Maps for some reason shows me zigzagging at lightening speed through all the side streets next to it. You shouldn't want Google to know where you're going anyway. I try to use Apple Maps wherever possible because it seems unlikely Apple will ever abuse or sell that kind of data.

  • but its incorrect in that its showing “detours“ that i didnt take.

How do you know for sure that you didn't take them?

  • For clarification I use a mobile phone driving in my car to work, the detours are significant and it has left me a little confused as to why this happens. Maps is set to precise .

Mine reckons I've spent time at KFC Wenworthville if I've spent too long queueing to get onto the M4 eastbound from Cumberland Road northbound.

  • It reads as though you have been caught out going somewhere you shouldn't. Why else would you be concerned enough to post about it on a forum ?
