Note SA residents can get a rebate of $216 through YESS

    • +1

Victorians also get $60 rebate, still better than nothing!

      • +2

Would you mind sharing how does this work? Do you buy the product and upload the receipt?

    • +2

      vote NO

    • Provided you're on a concession card or renting <$400p/w… Otherwise it's $162 rebate.

  • Have been using this for the last year or so, pretty happy with it! The only complain is i couldn't plumb the water outlet, felt like i was going to break it….

    • i choose the auto setting and it takes 3 hours to dry my clothes. any other setting that can reduce the time?

      • +9

        That's all heat pumps

        • My electrolux EDH913R9WB does the drying in approx 2 hours 20mins in energy saver program but 2 hours 30 mins in mixed+ program. In duvet mode, it takes a whopping 4 hours 51 mins lol. So yeah pretty normal for heat pump dryer and you do have to experiment with the settings. These are with load spun dry at 800rpm.

However the clothes come out nicely dried and soft with less wrinkles than air dried.

          • @Redsin: Curious, how much KW/h does your Heatpump dryer use?

            • +2

@Aliensf: I have not measured it yet. But it has 9 star rating @129 kwh per year labelled. I will see if i can measure it this weekend.

              • @Redsin: awesome thanks

                • +1

@Aliensf: Ok did 3 loads yesterday. 1.089kw/h in the morning with Energy saver, took 2 hrs 53 mins.

Afternoon 1.259kw/h in mixed+ and took 3 hrs 18 mins

Evening 1.282kh/h in energy saver and took 3hr 1 min

Timing seems longer, maybe due to lower ambient temperature

              • @Redsin: Dryers are calculated based on one load per week, which means it uses over 2kwh per load.

            • @Aliensf: I'm going go from memory and when I measured my heatpump (similiar model as this minus the digital display) I think it drew around 650 to 700 watts peak…

            • @Aliensf: 500-750w while running.

More than I was expecting to be honest.

              • @Niko123456: Thanks

That seems reasonable, compared to my vented dryer that uses 2kw/h lol.

              • @Niko123456: 500-750w/h for the full length of the dry cycle or 500-750w per dry cycle??

              • @Niko123456: What did you expect ?

            • @Aliensf: My Beko heat pump dryer running on P1 in this image https://imgur.com/a/PONasWD

It's using less power than the lights in my garage by a factor of 4…

              • @drew442: Seems like a lot of power for lights?

You should go to leds if feasible? Are they heat lamps or something?

                • @Niko123456: i have leds to swap in but there's 12 1200mm fluro tubes at the moment. i'm lighting up 8x7.4m at 4.2m height…

          • @Redsin: Have you noticed a difference in quality on harsh it is on the clothes? Online I see claims that it is softer on the clothes and there is less shrinkage because of the lower heat setting. I currently have a bosch condenser dryer and it is really eating through the clothes by shrinking them 1 to 2 sizes. Considering switching to a heat pump instead.

            • @prashmohan: No shrinkage observed yet. Seems to be very gentle on clothes so far. Pretty happy.

        Buy two dryers.

Seriously, its unavoidable due to the tech.

        • +1

Even vented tumble dryer will take almost 2 hours

      • +2

my 7kg beko heat pump dryer take 90mins to dry my 7kg clothes, I have 1200rpm front load washer though.

        • +1

          Love my beko too

        • +2

I also recently purchased Beko 7kg. It's very good. It takes 1:50 for mix-daily dry. Also, 5 years warranty.

          • @mjkwon74: Yeah such an underrated brand in Oz

      • +4

The time is honestly a small trade off for energy efficiency. Compare that to hanging the laundry up in winter. Just plan around it.

        • Until you have kids and goto pools in winter and need 3 loads done in a day.

Lucky my solar covers my $50 hair clearance dryer from Bunnings lol.

          • @811b11e8: I have three kids and wash 20 times a week. Use my heat pump 2-3 times a day. Only thing I don't dry is microfibre and denim. Bosch heat pump is pretty efficient just takes up to 3 hours for a big load.

      • Did you regularly clean the linen traps (there are 2 traps)? Also the condenser fins once in a while? mine is around 1 and half hours on 7kg load.

    • I just couldn't fit it on with the plastic piece in the tube, it felt impossible. Even watched a few installation videos and they just glossed over that part. I think in the end I pulled that plastic bit out of the tube, which then fit pretty well on the dryer. I cable tied it tight just in case and it's been fine since (a year or so)

  • +1

Does it reverse as so not to turn your clothes into one huge knot?

    • +1

      Yes

    • Sure does. The anti-crease function is pretty great. Don’t have to iron vast majority of clothes thanks to it.

  • At this price seems like a no brainer!

  • -3

Mine costs $1.38 or $2.10 if I buy the 30 pack of pegs.

    • +1

      🥇

    • +7

That's great if you live somewhere it gets get warm enough during winter to dry your clothes.

      • +3

My British ex used to be faced with the game ‘damp or cold?’ Finding myself playing this nowadays whenever I take a gamble on outdoor drying.

      • Have you considered indoor drying? Hanging clothes in the vascinity of the homes heating source works exceptionally well. This works for my family of 5.

        • We do for clothes that can't be put in the dryer. We would need about 10 extra clothes hoists. I don't think we have the floor space

          • +1

@klonky: Go ceiling mount. I use heat pump drier together with 2 ceiling mount indoor clothes lines above ducted heater vents. Works great in winter, free drying + humidification at the same time. Drier takes the urgent items and all other stuffs goes onto the lines.

    • Ordered one, thanks

    • +1

Wow thanks, I’ve been awake with crying babies and bed wetting toddlers all night. Wondering where we can put another clothes horse to dry the barrage of laundry through the SA winter.

After rebates this should be $464 delivered! Can barely find a vented dryer for that.

Another option to to order directly from appliances online website and ask them for price match guarantee? Free delivery for most areas.

    • Its saying it won't deliver to my address in metro Perth through Ebay - but no issue direct with AO…???

    • +1

just pulled the trigger on this deal too… thank you so much for calling this out. Way better than standing in a queue on a cold saturday as long as you aren't fussy about the colour :)

    • Was just about to buy and went sold out before I could complete

      • Me too. Bummer. I guess the Solt branded one from TGG is the next best price?

      • Check again. Just ordered this morning.

    • Thanks for pointing this out, bought!!

    • So many places they won't deliver to off the ebay page. Bendigo is one of them unfortunately. Damn

    • Only 2 year warranty though or can you register online for a third year?

Ended up ordering the "last one" on ebay

  • Good budget dryer that does the job. Obviously can't compare this to big brands like Electrolux or Bosch.

Have to add an extra 30min after each run to get everything dry. Not sure why…maybe its my washer.

    • +4

Why not? Just because something is more expensive don't mean it's better

    • maybe its my washer.

      Extra spin?

  • Very good dryer, worth the money does have heat sensor and adjust the dry time accordingly

  • +3

Great price for a heat pump dryer.

Just beware that it cannot be stacked or wall mounted due to weight, anyway you can't mount it upside down like vented dryers.

The other thing is there's an ideal ambient temperature range around 20°C for optimal efficiency, i.e. not suitable for cold environment such as garage.

    • +1

What's the point of having a dryer that can only be used when it's already warm?? (unless you are in an apartment with no balconies or sunny windows)

      • +1

It's just the way heat pump and condenser dryers work, they don't function properly in cold weather (sub zero), even in warm weather there's an optimal operation range, around 19°C to 24°C.

Since one of the reasons to pay more for a heat pump dryer is energy efficiency, so you really want to make sure that it is placed in an environment it is designed for.

Having said that, $600+ for an 8kg heat pump dryer delivered is not too much more than a vented dryer, so future cost saving to offset initial outlay is less critical.

A heat pump drying running in a cold environment does take a long long time to dry.

        • +1

          Nevermind me; I'm just… venting?

    • I have this stacked on top of a 7kg LG front loader. Using it like this for almost two years

      • It's probably okay, but not recommended. A safety precaution: heavy machine loaded with heavy wet clothes and spinning.

Static weight is less of a concern.

    • +1

Stacking this on top of my bosch washer with a stacking mat no issues at all.

      • Not an issue for everyone, but sometimes can be difficult to reach the control panel.

      • I hoping to do the same with my Bosch 7.5kg serie 4 and a stacking mat.

Are you able to check how far apart the feet are for me so I can check the fit?

        • +1

I stack the exact 8kg EHPD80 dryer on top of 7kg Bosch serie 4 no problem with a mat.

          • @wjb: Awesome! Thanks for the help. Ordered one from the eBay deal!

    • Nonsense, it can be used in cold weather. You'd have to get down to subzero temperatures before it's efficiency started getting seriously affected. It's based on heat pump technology same as any RCAC

      • -2

RCAC works in lower ambient temperature because your room is not filled with wet clothes, the AC unit just need to heat up air.

        • -1

Whoever neg'd, care to share your view? Rather than a cowardly faceless down vote?

        • I don't think you entirely understand how RCAC works…(btw it wasn't me that negged you)

    • Oh and it absolutely can be stacked on top of a washing machine with a stacking mat in between - see the multiple responses from other users in this thread

  • How does it compare to this one?

    https://www.thegoodguys.com.au/solt-8kg-heat-pump-dryer-ggsh…

Can be had for $650 at TGG Commercial.

    • +2

It's the same OEM unit as Esatto and Aldi Stirling, just rebranded,

      • +1

I got it a couple of weeks ago, works good. I got TGG to price match TGGC price of $650, after paying with gift cards came to $585

  • -3

The lint trap needs regular cleaning, like every cycle, a real pain!

    • +1

Yeah but it is easy to do and I it traps a lot - think of it as easy delinting if your towels.

    • +8

You should be cleaning it every cycle like every dryer smh

    • +2

this is for every dryer, stop killing your dryers!

      • And risking burning down their house.

  • +3

Be super carefull cleaning behind the lint trap! Looks the same as my 'Solt' or Aldi model, if so the heat exchange is behind the lint trap which can get clogged with dust.

If its the same one, its made of really soft fine metal / vertical vents, if they are slightly pushed in any way, eg with the vacuum the fins bend and effectively make the dryer less effective or potentially a fire hazard which has happened to mine.

Not sure what to do with mine now, just a warning to be super careful with the fins on the heat exchange!

    • +1

Same issue here, not easy to clean either, the opening is small and have to reach around the inside of it!
