I've heard horror stories from people purchasing from Samsung ie things never getting delivered, being fobbed off when trying to escalate the problem etc
Is this a common thing across manufacturers? Will be in need of some appliances soon and wondering whether buying off LG will run into similar issues. It doesn't sound like there's much benefit purchasing direct compared to from retailers?
I bought a new dryer directly from LG a couple of weeks ago. Good experience. Delivered in 2 days and works well.
I've heard the same about the Samsung store as well, although haven't bought anything from there myself.
I've bought a few things like a vacuum and a TV, straight from the manufacturer. Had no issues in my case. Admittedly, it's a very small sample size.
if there's not any benefit (significantly lower price from the manufacturer), it's better to buy from retailers because if something goes wrong, it's easier going in store and talking to real people instead of long call waiting times and slow email responses
I've not heard any more problems from the manufacturer selling directly, versus buying retail. Both can be great, or terrible, depending on the situation.
Both would have to comply with the ACL so it really comes down to user preference and online vs instore purchasing, but whitegoods are generally easier to sort instore versus say a phone that's easily posted.
I've purchased several phones off Samsung in the last 5 years, as well as earbuds, and all deliveries were quick and handled well. However they were fulfilled by Brightpoint/Likewize.
Samsung appliances (Fridge, washing machine; Not TV) generally have a fairly poor reputation

I Think you'll find better service from retailers due to their larger foot print, I have no complaints with buying stuff off the good guys. bought a couple of white goods from them, delivery and installation was smooth. no complaints so far
