Credit Card Travel Insurance When Flights Already Booked

Hi there,

I have already booked return international flights using my debit card however I intend of booking some tours and hotel/airbnb accomodation in the coming months.

What is the optimal way to do this with credit card travel insurance perks? From my understand these are all fairly similar policies but the flight needs to be booked on the card/account.

Is there any benefit in these complimentary credit card insurance policies for general travel (Trains/Buses between states, hotel/airbnb bookings, tourism operators) that we can pay for on a card?

Interested in recommendations for best in market if there is any benefit.

ANZ and NAB allow you to book a certain amount of land content (hotels, cars, tours) to activate the insurance. You do not need to purchase the airfare with the card.

If your bank requires you to purchase your airfare on the card but you didn't then the insurance will not activate. Buying other trip costs on your card does not change that.

With some of the CBA cards, you don't need to use them. Just activate the insurance via the website after booking your flights and before you leave.

    • Aren't they a scam?

        No.

Any excess is in the T&Cs as per other travel insurance.

Without knowing much about that specific poster's situation, basically all insurances charge an excess for each separate insurable event.

      • Seems like the poster agreed that they had no idea about what they are talking about.
